Phoenix Suns Guard Devin Booker Dazzles With 47-Point Performance

Phoenix Suns

Phoenix Suns Shooting Guard Devin Booker had a great game on Friday night against the Utah Jazz. He had a season-high 47 points along with 6 rebounds and 11 assists. He helped the Phoenix Suns pull out the overtime victory. Guard Grayson Allen also helped the Suns with six clutch points in the final two seconds of the fourth quarter to helped sent the game to OT. Booker scored 4 points in overtime to clinch the 135-127 victory.

It was a great day for the perennial all-star as he was honored before the game as the franchise’s leading scorer. Booker has had a strong season for a Phoenix Suns team with an uncertain future. He is eighth in the league in points per game and 11th in assists. His strong season did not lead though to being named an NBA All-Star when the teams were announced a few weeks ago. Will Booker and the Phoenix Suns be able to continue playing well?

Phoenix Suns Season Summary

It has been a difficult week for the Suns. They made multiple overtures at trading away star Forward Kevin Durant, and he reportedly vetoed any trades as he wished to remain a member of the Suns. This sort of uncertainty led to the locker room being deemed “toxic.” Many members of the team have pushed back on that notion following the NBA Trade Deadline.

The Suns have played below expectations this season. They are 26-25 and the No. 9 seed in the Western Conference. Their offense has been stellar this season. They are 13th in points per game, 10th in field goal percentage, but are one of the worst rebounding teams in the association. Their defense has been mediocre. They are 20th in points allowed, 11th in opposing field goal percentage, and 11th in opposing three-point percentage.

Final Thoughts

Booker and the Suns play the second half of a back-to-back this evening against a Denver Nuggets team winners of five games in a row. Tonight will be Booker’s first time facing the Nuggets this season. He was sidelined with a groin injury during the team’s two previous matchups. He will look to carry his momentum from last night’s performance into tonight’s contest. The Phoenix Suns are built as a win-now team and must play better over the final 30 games of the regular season.
