Phoenix Suns Power Forward Kevin Durant and Shooting Guard Devin Booker could not lead the team to the NBA Playoffs following great seasons. Durant finished the year sixth in points per game at 26.6. Booker was ninth with 25.6 points.
They made history this regular season with the most points per game by players to miss the NBA Playoffs. It is a sign of the level of futility the Phoenix Suns exhibited to not qualify for the postseason after two great individual seasons. What changes will the Phoenix Suns make this offseason to get the team back on track?

Phoenix entered the regular season with championship aspirations. Instead, they shockingly missed the NBA Playoffs. Such a disappointing season led to the team firing Head Coach Mike Budenholzer following one year on the job.
The Suns had one of the league’s best offenses. Durant and Booker were huge parts of that. They were 18th in points scored, 11th in field goal percentage, and third in three-point percentage. Budenholzer is supposed to be a defensive-minded coach, but the team had a miserable season on that end of the floor. That was one of the contributing factors to his dismissal. The team was 22nd in points allowed, 21st in opposing field goal percentage, and 27th in opposing three-point percentage.
Final Thoughts
It is a near guarantee that Durant will be traded by the Phoenix Suns this offseason. The team reportedly looked to trade him at the NBA Trade Deadline, but the former MVP nixed that idea. Shooting Guard Bradley Beal is also going to be the subject of trade speculation this offseason. Following the Phoenix Suns going all-in on the trio of Durant, Booker, and Beal, this offseason will be one of change in Phoenix, Arizona.
