The Phoenix Suns are hoping to go on a playoff run this year. Events have been up and down, to say the least. At times, this is mostly a team that relies solely on the brilliance of Kevin Durant or Devin Booker. However, it appears that the franchise has enough faith and trust in one of their players to not only get them more involved but enough so that they even signed him to a long-term lucrative deal.

Grayson Allen has agreed to terms on a four-year deal with the Phoenix Suns worth $70 million. YouTube Adrian Wojarnowski ESPN’s NBA Insider says the deal will also include a player option. This ensures that he is part of the long-term plans of this organization.

As stated, outside of Durant and Booker, there has not been enough consistent production. But the sons have seen enough bright spots where they feel comfortable securing him and guaranteeing that he won’t look to play elsewhere or be tempted by an outside offer.
Guard’s Fit With The Phoenix Suns
This move shows that they view the upside of his shooting and overall ability to score as more than enough. It’s known that he has his own antics and history. But when he’s on, he can be one of the hotter shooters in the NBA. He’s more than just someone who is on the court for spacing.
Unfortunately, because of how the Phoenix Suns run their offense, this is his sole purpose, at least on the offensive end. Defense continues to be an area of needed improvement, but he has made strides here. For someone who is supposed to be a knockdown shooter, it has been at times hard for him to get in a rhythm, especially when Booker or Durant see a disproportionate amount of the ball.
What’s Needed For the Phoenix Suns
At the moment, this seems to be the do-or-die method of this team. If Booker or Durant are hot, feed them and continue feeding them; at least that’s what they are hoping works. This is why the agreed-upon terms of the signing make sense.
Allen is someone who knows his role, knows what to expect, and knows that there may be games where he sees three or four touches max. Most of the time, it works within the grand scheme of things. However, there needs to be a thorough evaluation of whether the Phoenix Suns can sustainably win basketball games with this formula.
