Philadelphia Phillies Star On Terrific 2024 Run

Philadelphia Phillies struggled at home on Monday night.

People are turning their heads as they hear the news of a man on fire in the National League. A player riddled with consistency throughout his career is having a sudden surge of electricity in his bat after coming off the injured list last month.

Trea Turner of the Philadelphia Phillies is having a fantastic run in his last dozen games. Despite missing half of the season, Turner was able to take care of business and become a part of the 2024 All-Star game with ease alongside many of his teammates.

Going on a month-long hot streak, will Tuner be able to maintain this spectacular run?

Turner’s Impact In July

What is catching the attention of many is Turner’s performance in July. He has registered eight home runs in his last 12 starts, two of which were multi-home run games. In his last 10 games, his batting average is .366. He has recorded 15 hits and 13 RBIs during that stretch.

Since returning from the IL due to a strained left hamstring in mid-June, he made a very strong case to not only be on the All-Star team roster but to be the starting short-stop for the National League. He is joining seven of his other teammates, filling the NL roster with Phillies players.

Many have speculated whether or not Turner deserved to be in the All-Star game due to his lack of games so far this season. Turner exited the field in early May, missing 38 games in total. Because of this, he has only been in 57 games in 2024. Even with the smaller pool of games played, he has made a vital impact on his team, helping them become the best team in baseball going into the second half.

Overall this season, Turner is batting .349 with an OPS of .941. Turner has relied on his prowess at the plate and speed on the basepaths very much this year. With an OBP of .395, Turner is getting on base frequently. Using his speed, he has been able to steal 12 bases this year, allowing him to record a total of 49 runs, which has been impactful in close games.

The idea of Turner winning the NL MVP award has begun to arise. While he performs the way he has for the past month, he continues to make a case for the prestigious honor. Turner is in the top four for batting average across Major League Baseball. He is just behind All-Stars, Jose Iglesias, Steven Kwan, and Xavier Edwards.

This is one of Turner’s best years so far. After playing for both the Washington Nationals and the Los Angeles Dodgers, Turner has found his home with the Phillies. Since making his debut in 2015, he has posted consistent numbers across the board. He is aggressive at the plate, creating quality at-bats. As it stands right now, this is the best the 31-year-old has looked in his 10-year career.

Phillies In The Second Half

The Philadelphia Phillies are looking to go into the second half of the season even stronger than they started. After finishing their final first-half series with one of the worst teams in baseball, they hope to not carry their performance with them. They dropped two of three to the Oakland Athletics, losing 18-3 this afternoon despite the long ball from Turner.

Regardless of their poor showing with the A’s, The Phillies are still the best team in baseball by a fair margin. They head into the All-Star break with their record at 62-34.
