Philadelphia Phillies Pitcher Ranger Suarez Dominated In Last 2 Starts

Philadelphia Phillies Ranger Suarez.

Philadelphia Phillies Starting Pitcher Ranger Suarez has come crashing down to Earth over his last two starts. Suarez struggled yesterday against the Atlanta Braves surrendering five earned runs over five innings of work. His last start before Saturday was against the Miami Marlins and the veteran lefty struggled in that game as well. He surrendered six earned runs over 4.2 innings. The worst two starts of the season for Ranger Suarez have been in consecutive appearances.

This rough patch came as a shock as Suarez was the best pitcher in Major League Baseball over the first few months of the regular season. He was even named the National League Pitcher of the Month for April. Suarez had a sub-2 ERA before his start on June 30 against the Marlins, which was the beginning of this slump. Suarez is 10-3 this season with an ERA of 2.58. Even after a dreadful last two starts, Suarez is still tied for third in wins, fifth in ERA, and 12th in WHIP.

Will Suarez be able to find his footing once again as the first half of the MLB regular season comes to a close?

Ranger Suarez Season Summary

Suarez made his Major League debut in 2018 and has spent the entirety of his career as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies. This season has been the best of his career up until this point. Ranger Suarez is having the half that should lead to him being named to the National League All-Star team for the first time in his career.

Suarez has a career record of 39-24 with an ERA of 3.25.

Philadelphia Phillies Season Summary

Philadelphia(58-31) has the best record in the league this season. They hold a nine-game lead in the National League East. The Philadelphia Phillies have been paced by a great offense this season. They are third in batting average, fifth in runs scored, seventh in home runs, fourth in OBP, and fifth in OPS. Their offense is led by First Baseman Bryce Harper and Third Baseman Alec Bohm. Harper is top 10 in the league in batting average, home runs, and OPS. The two-time NL MVP has been sidelined since June 27 with a hamstring injury.

Bohm is 16th in the league in batting average and fourth in RBI. Philadelphia’s pitching has also had a standout 2024 season. They lead the league in ERA, home runs surrendered, and strikeouts. They are also fourth in opposing batting average and second in WHIP. Suarez and Zack Wheeler have anchored a great starting rotation this season. Wheeler is top 10 in the league in wins, ERA, strikeouts, and WHIP.

When Will Suarez Take The Mound Next?

The next scheduled start for Ranger Suarez is on July 12 at home against the Oakland Athletics. This will be his last start before the all-star break. It will be the first that Suarez will face the Athletics in his major league career.

The Philadelphia Phillies play the final game of their three-game set this afternoon on the road against the Atlanta Braves. They have a day off tomorrow before hosting the Los Angeles Dodgers for a three-game series beginning on Tuesday. The Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers have the two best records in the National League and will provide a measuring stick for both clubs as they look to each make deep runs in the MLB Playoffs.

The Philadelphia Phillies will need Suarez to regain his form from earlier this season for the team to reach their full potential.
