Philadelphia Phillies Starting Pitcher Aaron Nola turned in a masterful performance on Tuesday on the road against the New York Mets. Nola pitched a four-hit shutout and punched out eight batters in the game. He also exhibited tremendous control as he issued no free passes in the ballgame. This was Nola’s first complete game since September 25, 2023, against the Cincinnati Reds when he also tossed a shutout. Tuesday was the sixth complete game and fourth shutout of Nola’s MLB career.
Tuesday was a day to remember Nola at Citi Field as the ace had a perfect game through five innings until New York Center Fielder Tyrone Taylor notched a single to begin the bottom of the sixth inning. Nola has gotten off to a strong start in 2024 with a record of 5-2 and an ERA of 3.10. He is also 15th in the league in strikeouts. Will Aaron Nola be able to carry this momentum into his next start?

Philadelphia Phillies Season Summary
The Phillies(30-13) have gotten off to a great start as they are the first team in Major League Baseball to reach 30 wins in 2024. Philadelphia is second in runs scored, second in batting average, and fifth in home runs in addition to being near the top of the league in other offensive categories. Shortstop Trea Turner is fifth in the league in batting average but is on the IL with a hamstring strain. Third Baseman Alec Bohm has also been a crucial piece of the Phillies offense during their hot start. He is top 10 in the league in batting average, home runs, and RBI.
The Philadelphia Phillies pitching staff has also been great early in this regular season. They are fourth in ERA, third in home runs surrendered, and second in strikeouts. Both Nola and Starting Pitcher Ranger Suarez are top fifth in the league in wins. Suarez leads all of Major League Baseball in victories with seven.
When Will Aaron Nola Take The Mound Again?
Nola’s next scheduled start is on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at home against the Washington Nationals. He faced the Nationals earlier this season on April 5 and dominated by throwing 5.2 scoreless innings and striking out four.
