Philadelphia Phillies Dominate All-Star Field

The Philadelphia Phillies are sending seven players to next week's all-star game.

The Philadelphia Phillies will be sending a whopping seven representatives to the 2024 MLB All-Star Game in Arlington, Texas. That is the most all-strs they have had in any season in franchise history. Philadelphia’s 2024 all-stars are Relief Pitcher Jeff Hoffman, Relief Pitcher Matt Strahm, Starting Pitcher Ranger Suarez, Starting Pitcher Zack Wheeler, Third Baseman Alec Bohm, First Baseman Bryce Harper, and Shortstop Trea Turner.

Harper, Turner, and Bohm will all be starting in the 2024 MLB All-Star Game. Bohm is also set to compete in the 2024 T-Mobile Home Run Derby. How will all of these players fare in the MLB All-Star Game and how will the Philadelphia Phillies fare in the second half of the 2024 regular season?

Philadelphia Phillies Season Summary

The Philadelphia Phillies(58-32) have the best record in the National League and have been great throughout the first half of the regular season. They have been led by a tremendous offense this year. They are third in batting average, seventh in home runs, sixth in runs scored, third in OBP, seventh in Slugging Percentage, and fifth in OPS. Philadelphia’s offense is led by the dynamic duo of Harper and Bohm. Harper is top 20 in the league in batting average, home runs, RBI, and OPS. Bohm is ninth in the league in hits and fourth in RBI.

Philadelphia’s pitching staff has also been stellar. They lead the league in ERA, have surrendered the second-fewest home runs, are second in strikeouts, fifth in opposing batting average, and second in WHIP. Starting Pitcher Aaron Nola is fourth in the league in wins, Suarez is top 10 in wins and ERA, and Wheeler is top 10 in wins, ERA, strikeouts, and WHIP.

Phillies All-Stars At Top Of Their Game

The aforementioned Philadelphia Phillies all-stars are not the only ones dominating the league in the first half of the 2024 regular season. Relief Pitcher Matt Strahm has a record of 4-1 this season with an ERA of 1.59. Jeff Hoffman is 3-1 this season with an ERA of 1.21. He has only surrendered two earned runs in June and July combined.

Trae Turner is the only all-star selection for the Philadelphia Phillies that was debatable. He is hitting .335 this season with seven home runs and 23 RBI. He has only played in 51 of a possible 90 games this season as he was sidelined for over six weeks with a hamstring injury. Turner hit .302 in the second half of June and .360 in the first week of July.

With seven Phillies players taking part in the 2024 MLB All-Star Game, Arlington, Texas will feel much like the “City of Brotherly Love.”

Phillies Upcoming Schedule

Philadelphia begins a three-game series at home tonight against the Los Angeles Dodgers. This will be a crucial series as the two best teams in the National League get to face off for the first time this season. These ballclubs will get the chance to see where they measure up against one another.

The Philadelphia Phillies have a three-game set against the Oakland Athletics to officially end the first half of the 2024 regular season that begins on Friday. Philadelphia will look to end the first half on a high note and carry that momentum into the second half of the regular season and hopefully a deep run during the 2024 MLB Playoffs. The starter for the National League has yet to be announced, but either Ranger Suarez or Zack Wheeler would be a great option.
