Philadelphia Eagles Wide Receiver had an eye-opening quote at Super Bowl opening night. He said, “At every level of my life, I have played in a championship game.” That seems too good to be true but it is the case. Smith won two College Football Playoff National Championships at the University of Alabama. He helped the Crimson win titles in 2017 and 2020. Alabama also made it to the championship game in 2018 but was dominated by the Clemson Tigers.
Smith caught the game-winning touchdown from Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa against the University of Georgia in the 2017 National Championship Game. He was even better in 2020. He finished with 12 receptions and a CFP record 215 receiving yards. Smith continued winning when he was drafted into the NFL by the Philadelphia Eagles. He is playing in his second Super Bowl in four career seasons. That means Smith has played in five championship games over the last eight years. Will he be able to add another trophy to his mantle on Sunday?

Smith, and the rest of the Philadelphia Eagles passing game, will have an outsized impact on the winner of Super Bowl LIX. The Kansas City Chiefs are too good of a team to let Running Back Saquon Barkley wreck the game like he did during the NFC Playoffs. He had a whopping 442 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns on his way to the Super Bowl.
That will set the stage for Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts to prove to Kansas City’s defense, and the rest of the league, that he is a lethal pocket passer. Philadelphia’s offense is like an all-star team, but Hurts is the weakest part of the unit.
He has three of the best pass-catching options in the league with Smith, Wide Receiver A.J. Brown, and Tight End Dallas Goedert. Philadelphia’s passing game has not been consistent this year leading to tumult between Hurts, Brown, and Head Coach Nick Sirianni. The passing game will need to be at its best on Sunday.
Final Thoughts
Smith will be looking for a repeat of his history-making 2020 National Championship Game performance. He has proven he can produce on the biggest stages, and his best will be required in New Orleans on Sunday. The Philadelphia Eagles have the better roster, but have a disadvantage at quarterback and on the coaching staff. A great performance from Smith will help close that gap, and increase Philadelphia’s chances of winning.
