Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts has been spectacular in his first four seasons. Hurts also stands up well with Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs quarterback is considered one of the best of all time.
The only category where Mahomes bests Hurts in regular season wins where he holds a 49-45 advantage. Both franchise quarterbacks have two Super Bowl appearances, one Super Bowl win, and a playoff appearance in their first four seasons. Mahomes and Hurts have also gone head-to-head in two of the last three Super Bowls. The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback has arguably outplayed Mahomes in both contests. Will Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles be able to go back-to-back?

Hurts had arguably the best game of his career on Sunday in Super Bowl LIX. He also made history with a wonderful Super Bowl performance. Hurts finished 17-of-22 with 221 passing yards and 3 total touchdowns(2 passing and 1 rushing.) The Kansas City Chiefs entered the game focusing on slowing down Running Back Saquon Barkley. They were able to do that, but it set the stage for Hurts to win Super Bowl MVP. Kanas City’s defense had no answer for Philadelphia’s passing attack. Hurts also led a Philadelphia Eagles that set a postseason record for points scored.
It was a tale of two quarterbacks in the Super Bowl. Hurts was at his best and Mahomes was at his worst. He finished with the second-worst passer rating of his career. Hurts’ Super Bowl stats against the Chiefs are 44-of-60 with 525 passing yards, 7 total touchdowns, and 2 total turnovers. Unfortunately, a fumble from Hurts in Super Bowl LVII was the difference in the game. His fumble was returned for a touchdown.
The Super Bowl status for Mahomes against Hurts is 42-of-59, 439 passing yards, 6 total touchdowns, and 3 total turnovers. Even though Mahomes is considered a much better playoff performer, that has not been the case when Hurts is on the other side of the field.
Final Thoughts
Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles are the Super Bowl favorites heading into the 2025-26 season. Hurts is also poised to come back as motivated as ever following a postseason for the ages. Hurts got the better of Mahomes on Sunday and arguably in both Super Bowl matchups. He still has a ways to go to challenge Mahomes as the best quarterback in football.
