Philadelphia 76ers Lineup Projection Against Milwaukee Bucks

The Philadelphia 76ers are ready to begin their 2024 season.

The Philadelphia 76ers will play against the Milwaukee Bucks to open the 2024-25 season tonight. Before this season opener, the team suffered some heart-breaking reports. Yet, the Sixers look competitive ahead of the season’s opener. What should we expect from the team against the Bucks?

Philadelphia 76ers Injury Report

The Philadelphia 76ers suffered two injury setbacks for their key players. Yesterday, Shams Charania announced that Paul George and Joel Embiid wouldn’t play in the season opener against the Milwaukee Bucks. Thus, the Philly fans won’t get to watch the much-anticipated “Big Three” share the court.

During this offseason, the Philadelphia 76ers and Joel Embiid pledged to abide by load management. Embiid didn’t participate in many training exercises, especially scrimmages. Also, the Sixers MVP didn’t play during the preseason due to a scheduled medical checkup on his knee.

Paul George’s preseason start was impressive. Unfortunately, the six-time All-NBA player was injured during the preseason. George suffered from a hyperextended left knee while playing defense against the Atlanta Hawks. Thus, he will go through further medical checkups to ensure he’s healthy to begin the season.

The Sixers Lineup Without Their Star Players

With Joel Embiid and Paul George out of the Philadelphia 76ers season opener, Tyrese Maxey will lead the team. The Sixers team and Head Coach Nick Nurse are trying to build the team chemistry on the court. So far, the team looks decent with George and Embiid.

The projected lineup against the Milwaukee Bucks includes Tyrese Maxey, Eric Gordon, Kelly Oubre Jr., Caleb Martin, and Andre Drummond. Also, the projected second unit includes Jared McCain, Guerschon Yabusele, Ricky Council IV, Kyle Lowry, and KJ Martin. Thus, what should we expect with these starting lineups?

What To Expect From the Sixers

The biggest threat to the Philadelphia 76ers is Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. With this threat, Nick Nurse could play Andre Drummond and Tyrese Maxey for more minutes on the court. Then the Sixer coach would add the second unit to manage the workload on Eric Gordon. The Bucks have Lillard who is an elite three-point shooter. Thus, the Sixers’ complementary players should aim at executing their catch-and-shoot skills because Maxey will always get double-teamed. This approach should ease the offensive burden on the Sixers guard.

Reggie Jackson’s performance during the preseason was average and Philly fans will look to gauge how well he will fit with the team. However, he’s one of the key vets; thus, Jackson could get more playing time to prove his worth.

Philadelphia 76ers rookie Jared McCain could start in the opening game against the Milwaukee Bucks. McCain is indeed a rookie, yet it’s a great stage to test his skills against top NBA teams. On the other hand, the Sixers rookie is great as a sixth man. Also, he is reliable when it comes to playing as a catch-and-shoot threat. He should be an interesting watch against the Bucks.
