Philadelphia 76ers-Boston Celtics Team Prediction and Preview

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Boston Celtics Preview

The Philadelphia 76ers challenged the Minnesota Timberwolves and lost massively. Now, the Sixers team is 1-for-1 in two games. This night, the 76ers will face the defending champions, the Boston Celtics. The game should be competitive, as both teams are in the top three Eastern Conference teams. Who should we watch out for on both teams?

Philadelphia 76ers Lineup Prediction and Review

The Sixers would play without Joel Embiid against the Boston Celtics, and Paul George may not play against them. Yet, the predicted starting five should be Tyrese Maxey, Paul George, Andre Drummond, Caleb Martin, and Kelly Oubre Jr.

This predicted starting line is what we should expect from Nick Nurse whenever Embiid isn’t on the court. Thus, Caleb Martin is a player to watch out for against the Celtics. During the playoff series, the Sixers’ small forward averaged 41% from deep against the Boston Celtics. In his last preseason game, his performance was below average. The assumption is that Caleb Martin doesn’t reflect this performance during the regular season.

Though the Philadelphia 76ers lost to the Wolves, the team seemed to play better with Paul George on the court. Tyrese Maxey got 21 points, and Andre Drummond got a double-double of 10 points with 15 rebounds. Finally, Kelly Oubre Jr. finished with 16 points as the third-best player. The Sixers against the Celtics should be more competitive than the game against the Wolves.

Guerschon Yabusele Faces His Former Team

Guerschon Yabusele will face his former team this night. Thus, his performance is worth looking into. Yabusele didn’t display a top-tier performance against the Wolves due to fewer minutes on the court. So Coach Nurse could give him more minutes against the Celtics to measure what he can offer the Sixers team in the long run. Also, the Celtics are the best team to taste his first and second-unit team.

Coach Nurse works toward getting complementary pieces that fit together on the court. While the team’s starting five looks solid, the second unit needs some work. Jared McCain and Ricky Council IV would be solid picks for the Sixers’ second-unit team. Both players performed well on the court since the beginning of these preseason games. Thus, they should become crucial rotation pieces for the team.

Boston Celtics Lineup Prediction and Review

The Celtics won the 2024 NBA Championship in a five-game series against the Dallas Mavericks. After this smooth win, NBA teams in the East tried to mirror the Celtics team. In the Celtics’ last two games, the team came out victorious with two wins in two games.

The predicted line for the Celtics includes Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday, Derrick White, and Luke Komet. Also, Kristap Porzingis won’t play due to his foot injury. A player to watch out for is Payton Pritchard. His off-the-bench performance is clinical. Pritchard is the team’s leader in average points and assists per preseason game. The Celtics player averages 17.5 points and 5.5 assists per game.
