Philadelphia 76ers Lineup Projection With 3 Key Players Out

The Philadelphia 76ers look to get their first win of the year against the Raptors.

The Philadelphia 76ers will face the Toronto Raptors for their second regular season game. Also, the team updated their injury report after their season’s opener. The Philadelphia 76ers have a long way to go in terms of integrating well on the court. Thus, what should we expect from the team tonight?

The Sixers’ Lineup Projection against the Toronto Raptors

Philadelphia 76ers Head Coach Nick Nurse could use the same lineup from the game against the Milwaukee Bucks. Against the Bucks, he played Tyrese Maxey, Eric Gordon, KJ Martin, Kelly Oubre Jr., and Andre Drummond. This starting lineup held off the Buck’s offensive and defensive pressure in the first quarter.

The team’s second unit remains Guerschon Yabusele, Ricky Council IV, Jared McCain, and Kyle Lowry. Caleb Martin playing against the Raptors is a probability due to his recent injury report. KJ Martin could play more minutes in the absence of Caleb Martin.

What To Expect From the Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers should win against the Toronto Raptors. The team will be without Joel Embiid, Paul George, and probably Caleb Martin. Aside from that, the Sixers team is solid enough to compete against the Raptors. The Sixers fell short against the Milwaukee Bucks due to low shooting efficiency. Tyrese Maxey led the team in scoring with 25 points but shot 31% from the field.

Another part of the offense the Philadelphia 76ers should improve on is playmaking. The team had fewer assists than the Bucks in the season opener. This aspect is crucial for relieving the offensive burden on Maxey. Most of the team members are new, so it will take a few games for the players to build chemistry.

Kelly Oubre Jr. was the best player the last time the Sixers played against the Raptors. Against the Bucks, he followed Maxey as the second-best player with 21 points. His athleticism benefitted the Sixers team on both sides of the court. Guerschon Yabusele performed well in his NBA return in the Sixers uniform. Yabusele played the “small ball” and served as the backup to Andre Drummond. The Frenchman scored 10 points to go along with four rebounds and three steals. We should expect more improvement on the offensive side as he progresses in the NBA.

Sixers Injury Updates

Joel Embiid and Paul George won’t play against the Toronto Raptors. The Sixers franchise reported the veterans are responding well to treatment. More updates will be forthcoming next week. On the other hand, the NBA league wants to investigate Embiid’s absence in the season’s opener despite playing with no health issues at the Olympics.

Caleb Martin is an update to the Sixers’ injury report. After coming in for the Sixers in the second half, the Sixers forward suffered a right calf contusion. Yet, Caleb Martin should be better for the Philadelphia 76ers game against the Indiana Pacers on Sunday. Against the Bucks, he scored 12 points had nine rebounds, three assists, and a block. Also, possibilities loom as he could come off the bench against the Raptors.
