Pedro Acosta in Top Form Ahead of Japanese MotoGP at Motegi

Pedro Acosta

Just 1.4 seconds short of a debut MotoGP victory in Mandalika, rookie sensation Pedro Acosta is heading to the Japanese Grand Prix in Motegi with high expectations. However, he heads to the Japanese Grand Prix in Motegi with even higher expectations. According to Tech3 GASGAS team manager Nicolas Goyon, Acosta is said to be in special form, as he finished second last weekend.

Motegi Circuit: Perfect match for Acosta and the RC16

The Motegi circuit consists of stop-go features, including long, straight, and sharp brakes on the track. Such characteristics are expected to fit Pedro Acosta’s riding style and the capabilities of the RC16 bike he rides. Nicolas Goyon described how quickly Pedro Acosta assimilated with the performance requirements of Motegi back in Moto2 class, where he secured third place in last year’s Japanese Moto2 GP. He said that

“We just had time to recover from our emotions and the epic 2nd position from Pedro Acosta in Indonesia. This last race of the first tripleheader is held at the iconic Motegi circuit, a very atypical layout known for its character stop-and-go, and one of the only circuits homologated for the bigger brake disks available from Brembo. Stopping the bike here is a challenge for the body, as well as for the machine,  but it is one of the strong characteristics of our bike, which had good results in the past.”

Building on Success: Pedro Acosta’s Confidence Grows

With his second-place finish in Indonesia, Pedro Acosta has bounced back to fifth in the world championship ranking, displacing future teammate Brad Binder. He expects to be at his best again in the Motegi race, which is considered to be among his best circuits in the Moto2 category.

Pedro Acosta is eager to maintain the pace that he set. However, his teammate Augusto Fernandez would like to freshen up the competition. The last two races have not been tremendous for Fernandez, as he had a technical problem that led to his retirement from the Mandalika Grand Prix.

But he is looking forward to the next round at Motegi, with confidence to put up a better show in Motegi. The rain that is expected at Motegi tomorrow may well be a bonus for Fernandez. He performed well in wet conditions, finishing seventh in the 2023 Japanese Grand Prix.

Fernandez is expected to continue his career as a test rider for Yamaha in the upcoming season. The star of the future is in Moto 2. Everyone will be watching Pedro Acosta to see whether he can get his first victory at Motegi, while Fernandez will advance from the recent difficulties.

Final Thoughts

As MotoGP heads to Motegi, Pedro Acosta is poised for his first win after a strong second-place finish. The track suits his style, and he’s ready to maintain his momentum. Meanwhile, Augusto Fernandez aims to rebound, with wet conditions possibly in his favor. Both riders are set for an exciting weekend.
