Paul Pogba, the France and Juventus midfielder, received a four-year ban after failing his doping test. According to the World Anti-Doping Code, they conducted the test in August. Italy’s Anti-Doping Prosecutor’s office requested the National Anti-Doping Tribunal (TNA) to give the player the maximum sentence for testing positive for a banned substance. Pogba, in his defense, said that he was ‘sad, shocked and heartbroken’ at his ban. He added that he would appeal to the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) in Lausanne. The Midfielder’s ban will end in August 2027.

Paul Pogba said, “I have today been informed of the Tribunale Nazionale Antidoping’s decision and believe that the verdict is incorrect. I am sad, shocked, and heartbroken that everything I have built in my professional playing career has been taken away from me. When I am free of legal restrictions the full story will become clear, but I have never knowingly or deliberately taken any supplements that violate anti-doping regulations.”
He added, “As a professional athlete, I would never do anything to enhance my performance by using banned substances and have never disrespected or cheated fellow athletes and supporters of any of the teams I have played for or against. Due to the decision announced today, I will appeal this before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.”
Sky in Italy reported that Pogba tested positive for a high level of testosterone in his blood after Juventus’ first game in the 2023/24 season. To everyone’s surprise, the testing officials chose him at random, even though he was a substitute in the game and did not get a chance to play. By the time the ban ends, he will be 34 years old, raising doubts about whether he can recover his place in the football arena.
