Former Milwaukee Bucks Guard Patrick Beverley will not face criminal charges for his incident with fans in the Bucks Game 6 loss vs the Indiana Pacers in the 1st round of the NBA Playoffs. Towards the end of the Bucks blowout loss to end the season, Beverley fired a ball two different times at Pacers fans sitting behind the Milwaukee bench. The NBA’s response to this was to suspend Beverley without pay for four games next season.
Last month, Patrick Beverley signed a contract with a Professional Israeli team called Hapoel Tel Aviv. Unless Beverley makes his way back into the NBA, the four games without pay punishment will likely never be in effect. Beverley will now try to turn the page. How will he fare over in Israel?
The “Incident”
Down 20 points to the Indiana Pacers in an elimination game with two minutes left, the Milwaukee Bucks season was coming to an end. The Bucks were hampered with injuries all postseason with Giannis Antetokounmpo missing the whole series and Damian Lillard missing a few games. This frustration got to a boiling point for Beverley. He took a basketball while on the bench and chucked it three rows behind the Bucks bench at a Pacers fan, hitting one in the head. He then got the ball back and fired the ball into the crowd again. Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured.
It was a horrible look for Patrick Beverley who then declined to speak about the incident in the postgame press conference. Since then, Beverley expressed his “actions were inexcusable” and that “he has to be better.” On his podcast, he also mentioned that a select few fans were saying things to him that he would not repeat on air. However, he reiterated that he should not have responded the way he did.
Patrick Beverley has a history of antics like this so the NBA was not messing around when they suspended him for four games without pay. It is unclear if the league Beverley is in now, the Israeli Basketball Premier League, will carry over any punishment for the incident that occurred.
Patrick Beverley Moving On

Getting the news that Patrick Beverley would be playing in the Israeli Basketball Premier League was surprising. Beverley is a 12-year NBA veteran who has been widely considered one of the best defensive guards in the NBA. He made the NBA All-Defensive 1st Team in 2017 and NBA All-Defensive 2nd Team in 2014 and 2020.
Reports are that Beverley signed a two-year $4 million contract with Hapoel Tel Aviv. He will no doubt be one of the top players in the Israeli Basketball Premier League next season. Hapoel Tel Aviv is coming off a loss in the championship so they hope that the addition of Pat Bev will get them over the hump.
Beverley’s NBA Future
Patrick Beverley leaving the NBA was not because no teams wanted him. He was offered a veteran minimum contract this offseason from the Detroit Pistons. He turned it down to sign in Israel. He stated on the “Pat Bev Pod” that Hapeol gave him everything he asked for and he couldn’t refuse.
Patrick Beverley is now 36 so we have seen him play his last game in the NBA. He will be 38 years old by the time his current contract is up. NBA teams will likely still be reaching out to him during the offseason for the next few years, it will be up to Pat Bev if he wants to go back.
