Pat McAfee Returning To College GameDay For 2024 Season

Pat McAfee- College GameDay

The college football sports world just received some exciting news about their well-known broadcast team on Saturdays. College GameDay has seen original hosts and new featured guests over the years. For the second year in a row, one popular show host/analyst will be returning to the College GameDay desk.

Pat McAfee made the decision last year in 2023 to be on the show every college football Saturday. The good news for fans of the sports icon is that he will be experiencing his second full slate of games starting in August.

Original guys like Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso, and Desmond Howard have been the normal GameDay crew. Now, Pat McAfee has decided to return to the desk. He already hosts his show “The Pat McAfee Show” as he gives his own opinions and perceptions on storylines that occur around the sports world. Of course, fans view his show as it is aired on ESPN every day at noon ET. But, not everyone is a fan of his passionate energy and outgoing personality whether on his show or even College GameDay. His enthusiasm keeps fans behind the set excited and people watching on television laughing hysterically at his comical thoughts and analysis on Saturday mornings.

Pat McAfee Speaks On Decision To Come Back

The two-time Pro Bowl kicker commented on his return to the College GameDay after there was much speculation on whether the talk show host would come back for another college football season. After the news was released, the eight-year NFL kicker stated,” “It is officially official… I am returning to College GameDay,” McAfee said on social media.

However, Pat McAfee is not the only big name that will be a part of the GameDay crew this fall. Former Alabama head coach Nick Saban is joining the team alongside his colleagues. Saban won six national titles with the Alabama Crimson Tide during his 17-year coaching stint in Tuscaloosa, AL.

Former Guests Joining As Analysts

Both analysts will provide their perceptions surrounding college football and its new landscape and platform as the College Football Playoff has reached a new 12-team system for the 2024 season. Since he was a former professional player, he can bring insight as a detailed host and from a player’s point of view. Saban has years of experience on the sidelines developing young men at the University of Alabama as he was successful in winning over 200 nationally televised games, conference championships, and national titles as a head coach.

On August 24th, the College GameDay crew will travel overseas to Dublin, Ireland to start the season as they will be covering the Florida State-Georgia matchup along with other topics before the rest of the Power 5 conferences begin play. The set and crew will look different with six members at the desk, but the excitement is rising for the first time a game will be played outside of the United States.

We are a little over three weeks away before the 2024 college football season kicks off. With new conference realignment, the departure of conferences, and a new playoff layout, there is a lot of adjusting that will be taking place. Everyone is witnessing a new era of college football, and for the next five months, the College GameDay crew will continue to travel to their destination of choice to highlight the biggest matchup each week.

Get ready to experience the hype as another season is upon us in less than a month. College GameDay will air from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday morning on ESPN.
