Pakistan’s star fast bowler Shaheen Afridi faces the possibility of sitting out the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh due to a private and joyous reason. The imminent arrival of his first child with wife Ansha, whom he married in February last year. This personal milestone has prompted discussions within the team about granting Afridi time off to be with his family during this crucial period.

Red-ball coach Jason Gillespie has affirmed the team’s support for Afridi, stating that they are prepared to accommodate his absence should he choose to prioritize his family commitments over cricket. This gesture underscores the team’s recognition of the importance of family and the well-being of their players beyond the cricket field.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has indicated its willingness to respect Afridi’s decision, ensuring he receives the necessary support and time off as needed.

The controversial situation in which Shaheen Afridi was involved recently was during Pakistan’s T20I series against England before the T20 World Cup. Some controversies recorded were the clash between Shaheen Afridi and Pakistan batting coach Mohammad Yousuf.

According to Geo News, the sources related to the management of this team revealed that there was some conflict during the training session when Yousuf continued to remind Afridi that he bowls no-ball frequently. Logical reasoning seems to have hit the raw nerve of Shaheen Afridi because he reacted defensively, saying he felt free to organize practice sessions.

Said some people on the ground. The exchange rose for a moment as Shaheen Afridi spoke and said why he was furious that Yousuf reminded him that he was the coach of the team.

Although the situation escalated briefly, Shaheen Afridi was quick to apologize to passengers and was ready to tender an apology for his outburst.

The conflict between Shaheen Afridi and Yousuf, which was reported in the media, was not a long-standing issue; it was a brief confrontation that took place on the field, was not taken further off the field, and was solved immediately within the team.

Sources restored the understanding that Shaheen Afridi has apologized to Yousuf, and saying that it was the end of the issue proved that both of them are professionals in the way they handle conflict situations. Notably, it did not go up to the PCB superiors and hierarchy with heads, implying that the issues were well managed internally by the team and its members.

Future Cricket Calendar for Pakistan

Further on, the Pakistan cricket team has a very busy schedule, with the big Test series comprising two Test matches between Pakistan and Bangladesh scheduled to start on August 21. These series are crucial for Pakistan as they try to establish themselves in the test format and look forward to more encounters in the future.

After the Bangladesh Tests, Pakistan will gear up for a white-ball series against Australia in November. This series will provide crucial exposure for the team across formats, showcasing their talents on the international stage once again.

These upcoming challenges are yet to come in Pakistani cricket. Despite the potential loss of Shaheen Afridi to a personal issue, the team management had so much respect for its players other than the field. Shaheen Afridi’s case portrays another reality that most contemporary cricketers experience in balancing organizational schedules and personal issues.
