Pakistan Falls Short Despite Naseem Shah’s Astonishing Performance

The T20 World Cup 2024 Group In India vs. Pakistan is always a big match, and hence this match proved it as both teams performed at their best and gave the viewers some landmark moments. Pakistan, giving a tame chase to India’s humble score of 119, were ponies just six runs short of the tally in what turned out to be a see-saw final.

However, Pak could not put up a decent chase for the target to win. Naseem Shah stood up to the challenge with the bat as he stayed not out on 10 off 4 balls. Unfortunately, his efforts were not enough to win the game for his side; in fact, it was a mere morale boost to the whole team. The outfield displayed numerous raw emotions after that match’s end, particularly with Naseem Shah shedding tears and Shaheen Afridi seen comforting him.

Considering Pakistan’s performance, captain Babar Azam also shared his views during the press conference, wherein he hailed the bowling but at the same time felt let down by the batting department. He said that the team batted poorly and that too many dot balls were delivered in the process of chasing a below-par target.

Azam stressed normal play and the need to have a change on strike as he further encouraged the batsmen to cash in during early overs in the innings.

With the defeat, Pakistan’s T20 World Cup hopes hang on a thread, and so captain Azam pointed out that they needed to win their two outstanding group matches to get into the Super 8 stage. Pak’s chances of qualifying for the knockout stage now remain based on getting maximum points in the remaining matches and hoping for other losing matches as well.
