Pachuca Claims Impressive 6th CONCACAF Champions Cup

Mexican club C.F. Pachuca claimed its first CONCACAF Champions Cup since 2017 with a 3-0 victory on Saturday. The Liga MX squad defeated the Major League Soccer’s Columbus Crew in the elite North American tournament finals.


Salomon Rondon scored twice, while Emilio Rodriguez added the additional tally in the clean sheet victory for Pachuca. Several benefits are extended to the club with the team claiming the prestigious gold trophy as champions of North America for the 2024 season. 

Pachuca Enters 2025 Fifa Club World Cup

As part of a revised 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, Pachuca will be one of 32 teams competing in a more inclusive global club-based tournament with the CONCACAF Cup win. This bracket will feature some of the best club teams in the world such as Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Al Hilal.

The head coach of C.F. Pachuca, Guillermo Almada, is thrilled to have the opportunity to represent North American football in the tournament. “Playing in the Club World Cup is one of the greatest goals any footballer or coach can have. We will represent Mexico and try to do so with dignity.”

The 32-team Club World Cup will feature four teams from Africa, four squads from Asia, 12 selections from Europe, 4 groups from Central & North America, six outfits from South America, and one representative from Oceania. The tournament will occur between June and July 2025 in the United States. Under the previous format, the 2017 CONCACAF Cup-winning Pachuca side was third overall in the FIFA Club World Cup.

International Cup Battle Against Real Madrid

With the tourney win yesterday, Pachuca enters the field alongside Kylian Mbappe’s new side, Real Madrid, in another resigned tournament. The six-team tournament sees league champions battle in a single elimination bracket with Real Madrid receiving automatic byes to the Finals at a neutral site venue.

The final match for the 2024 International Cup is scheduled for December 18, 2024, with the tournament’s remaining victor against Real Madrid. Good luck, friends! 

The 2024 International Cup is a fill-in bracket for an expanded and resigned 2025 FIFA Club World Cup next year. The International Cup still features the six continental champions as the tournament would have featured in recent seasons to crown an international club champion in 2024.

With their sixth time claiming the CONCACAF Champions Cup this weekend, Pachuca moves into a tie with Cruz Azul in a second-place tie in the history of the bracket. Fellow Mexican side,  Club America, leads the way with seven all-time CONCACAF Champions titles. 


Salomon Rondon scored twice in Saturday’s 3-0 win showcasing a team-first attitude following the match despite leading the tournament in scoring with 9 goals.

“Pachuca gave me the chance to redeem myself and now I’m a CONCACAF champion. I’m very happy.” Rondon said after the match. “I’m also the tournament’s top scorer (9 goals), but it’s a credit to the whole team,” added the 34-year-old Venezuelan striker, who was also named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

The four teams qualifying from the CONCACAF Champions Cup for the 2025 FIFA World Cup draw include three Mexican squads (Pachuca, Leon, Monterrey) and one American-based soccer team (Seattle Sounders).
