The offense of the Oakland Athletics had a day to remember this afternoon at home against the Baltimore Orioles. Oakland won 19-8. Their 19 runs were the second-most in an MLB game this season, behind only the Oakland Athletics who scored 20 runs on May 4 against the Miami Marlins. During what has been a tumultuous time for the franchise, having the two highest offensive outputs this season provides a sense of hope to their beleaguered fans.
Oakland scored a run in six half innings today and Designated Hitter Brent Rooker led the way with four RBI in Saturday’s contest. Three other A’s players added three RBI each. The offense slugged five home runs in what was a tremendous day at the office for them. Even though the offense had a dominating performance, the Oakland pitching staff continued what has been an underwhelming season. Their bullpen surrendered seven earned runs in only three innings of work.
Will the offense of the Oakland Athletics be able to carry this momentum into the remaining games of the first half of their season?

It has been yet another rough season for Oakland(34-57). They are in fifth place in the American League East and have the fourth-worst record in the league. The team hovered around .500 as the calendar turned to May, but that is when things went awry for the ballclub. They won only nine games in May and seven games in June.
Their offense has been really bad this season. They are 28th in batting average, fifth in home runs, and 28th in runs scored. Their offense is led by Rooker. He leads the team in every important offensive category. He is top 20 in the league in home runs(18) and 22nd in RBI(54).
The pitching staff of the Oakland Athletics has also not been good this season. They are 23rd in ERA, 28th in strikeouts, and 27th in opposing batting average. Their staff is led by Starting Pitcher JP Sears. He is 5-7 this season with an ERA of 4,74. Relief Pitcher Austin Adams is 13th in the league with 16 holds.
Athletics Upcoming Schedule
The Oakland Athletics play the final game of their three-game series tomorrow afternoon against the Baltimore Orioles. They have a day off on Monday before heading east to take on the Boston Red Sox for a three-game set beginning on Tuesday.
Oakland is barreling toward their fourth straight season missing the MLB Playoffs in what will be their last season in Oakland, California. The Athletics are expected to play in Sacramento beginning in 2025 before eventually moving to Las Vegas, Nevada for the 2028 MLB season.
Oakland is expected to be sellers at the July 30 MLB Trade Deadline as they have pieces the rest of the league will look to acquire over the next few weeks. A few possible players that may be on the trading block are Brent Rooker and Closer Mason Miller. Miller has been one of the best closers on the game this season converting 14 of a possible 16 save opportunities. Unfortunately for Miller, he does not have many opportunities to pitch in a game when the Oakland Athletics are leading.
The Oakland Athletics will look to stockpile draft picks and continue rebuilding as they bid adieu to the city of Oakland in approximately three months. Oakland’s offense will look to build upon a great performance and have a better second half of the regular season.
