The 109th-ranked Laslo Djere had one tough time against Djokovic. He needed a medical time-out after the second set to attend to an injury. Last year, Djere had extended Djokovic to five sets at the U.S. Open, but an injury that he played through proved too much to overcome this time.

Interestingly, Djokovic wasn’t without his own. Following the win in the first set, Djokovic was treated for what looked like a side strain. No worries for him, though, as he pushed on and remained at his elite level of play.
This victory at the All England Lawn Tennis Club marks the 90th triumph he has won at each of the four Grand Slam events record by any player during his lifetime, a milestone indicating his sustained supremacy over the game. Still active, at 37 years of age, there is no slowing down for Djokovic.

After the match, Djokovic sympathized with Djere’s condition. He said it was never nice to see an opponent being obliged to retire through injury, and that the player had just been in very good form. Djokovic also spoke about Djere leading in the second set and how he could have turned things around if not for the injury to his side.
Despite the wear and tear of a sport that isn’t kind to any participant as time goes by, Djokovic said he is very motivated.
