Nottingham Forest have made a huge signing before the start of the 2024 English Premier League. Unfortunately for Notts, they were toward the bottom of the table last year and struggled to maintain consistency and find form that sees them remain in the top ten in the Prem. However, with new signings and a better outlook on their trajectory, Nottingham Forest could turn the tables around this season.
Nottingham Forest just signed one of the most exciting Serbian players to ever exist, a talented and creative player who just joined the Italian league. Let’s see if he can bring some of his finesse and athleticism to the field for Nottingham this year.
Nottingham Forest Sign Milenkovic from Fiorentina
Fiorentina sold one of their most promising players to Nottingham Forest in England, a deal the latter will be extremely happy with. Milenkovic is a huge, Serbian center-back who can bolster the backline and make it nearly impossible for other teams to score. His stature, muscle, athleticism, speed, and strength are a nightmare for attackers to try and beat to the ball.
He stands at a whopping 6’5” tall, making him one of the biggest layers in the league. Since he has already filled out and has a very muscular body type, Nottingham Forest knows this is exactly what they need to boost their defense this season. They have locked down the Serbian defender with a five-year contract that will help Forest add another huge signing during the transfer window.
Notts Forest kicks off a friendly match tomorrow against Sunderland at Pinatar Arena Football Center to see how they stack up against one of the better teams in their country. They begin their 2024 Premier League season against Bournemouth on August 17th to see who will come out on top and get a much-needed three points to start the year. Before the English League started, they played Millwall, Elche, Villareal, and Olympiacos as friendly matches to test their skill, starting lineup, tactics, and technique before going into the extended Premier League season.
Milenkovic Stats
Before Milenkovic signed for Nottingham Forest, he started from humble beginnings. The Serbian international was born in Belgrade, formerly known as Yugoslavia in 1997. At just 26 years old, he has played more than 200 games for Fiorentina in Italy after his signing in 2017, making him one of the longest-standing players at the club,
He first began playing soccer at a young age at Partizan for his youth career, where he went on to get minutes and appearances in the senior side in 2015 when he was just 18 years old. He earned more experience at Teleoptik on loan in 2015, amassing 13 appearances as a teenager. Now, he has signed for Nottingham Forest to bring some of his backline experience to the Premier League.
For Nottingham Forest, Milenkovic is key. He is going to help the team better their goal differential this year. Last season, Notts ended up in 17th place — just six points above the relegation zone. They earned only 32 points in 38 games, making them one of the bottom teams in the league. They scored just 49 goals and let in 67, which caused a -18 goal differential.
Milenkovic can help bolster their goal differential and bring it to the plus side. The team needs such signings to maintain its position in the Premier League. The budgets of other clubs have increased and therefore, the smaller clubs must keep upgrading.
