The May 15th, 2024 edition of AEW Dynamite will feature a tag team match between Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, Kyle Fletcher, and a star NJPW (New Japan Pro Wrestling) talent.
Kyle Fletcher recently joined the Don Callis Family, a faction in which he has showcased himself as a single superstar. However, what some fans might not remember is that Kyle Fletcher is still a member of Will Ospreay’s NJPW faction United Empire, Ospreay being another member of the Don Callis family.
On this episode of AEW Dynamite, Fletcher will team up with United Empire faction member and NJPW star Jeff Cobb. Cobb has appeared on AEW for previous Forbidden Door buildups, and that might be the reason for his appearance tonight as the PPV is once again approaching.
Cobb’s Dynamite Appearance
The two members of the United Empire faction are set to take on Blackpool Combat Club’s Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson. Bryan Danielson and Will Ospreay were recently involved in a feud, and considering that Moxley is the current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, this match could have Forbidden Door implications.
Jeff Cobb is the current NJPW World Television Champion, a title he won at Wrestling Dontaku from Zack Sabre Jr. He has been on a roll in the company lately, as he has transitioned into a singles star and the face of United Empire from the New Japan side.
Cobb and Fletcher are current faction members of NJPW’s United Empire and it seems as if Cobb will play an involvement at Forbidden Door within the Don Callis Family.
This won’t be Cobb’s first Dynamite match, but it will be the first time he steps into an AEW ring since Forbidden Door 2023.

Will Ospreay Tensions
Ever since Ospreay’s official AEW signing, there have been hinted tensions between him and the Don Callis family despite him being a member of the faction. Ospreay was even the one to recommend Kyle Fletcher to Don Callis as they were good friends and both members of the United Empire.
This started when Don Callis decided to put Ospreay and Konosuke Takeshita up against each other at AEW Revolution, as he wanted his faction members to have a good match. However, when Callis decided to have Ospreay compete in singles matches against Fletcher and Powerhouse Hobbs as well, speculation started to rise regarding his time in the faction.
It seemed offputting that Don Callis would randomly start putting his faction members against each other in 1 on 1 matches, and that also likely had a play into the tensions that were already there due to Ospreay being a face and the faction consisting of heels.
This has not been seen in recent months as Ospreay transitioned into a feud with Bryan Danielson, but it could very well pick up with Forbidden Door around the corner.
AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door
It could be interesting to see if tensions rise within the Don Callis Family, and whether it could lead to a faction vs faction match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. If this were to happen, Will Ospreay would most likely lead his United Empire against Don Callis and his family.
However, where things might get interesting is whether Kyle Fletcher would remain with Don Callis or stick with his lifelong best friend. It could be a very heat-getting segment if Fletcher decides to turn on Ospreay and stick with Don Callis.
If this were to happen, the return of Mark Davis could also be seen. Davis is Fletcher’s NJPW, ROH, and AEW tag team partner as they perform under the name Aussie Open, however, he got injured prior to Fletcher joining the Don Callis Family.
Tensions between the two could also be extremely high if a division is caused between the Family and the United Empire.
