New York Yankees Star Putting Together Spectacular 2024 Season

New York Yankees Shortstop Anthony Volpe is having a three week stretch to remember.

New York Yankees Shortstop Anthony Volpe is doing something no Yankees player has done in over a decade. Volpe is in the midst of a 20-game hitting streak which is the longest for a Yankees player since Second Baseman Robinson Cano had a 23-game hitting streak in 2012. Volpe’s hitting streak began on May 7 at home against the Houston Astros.

As should be expected, Volpe raised his batting average substantially over these last few weeks. He was hitting .252 before the streak commenced and is now at .285. The New York Yankees have also been playing well over their last 20 games, going 14-6 during Volpe’s hit streak.

Volpe is hitting .285(25th in the league), with six home runs and 23 RBI this season. How long will he be able to extend his already historic hitting streak?

Anthony Volpe Career Summary

Volpe made his Major League debut in 2023 with the New York Yankees. He won a Gold Glove in his rookie season in the “Big Apple” with a fielding percentage of .970. He struggled at the plate in his rookie season as he hit a measly .209, but he did hit 21 home runs. His 21 home runs were the fourth-most on the team in 2023.

He is a career .231 hitter with 27 home runs and 83 RBI.

New York’s pitching staff is leading the league in ERA by a sizable margin, have surrendered the seventh-fewest home runs, and are first in opposing batting average. Starting Pitcher Carlos Rodon is fifth in the league with six wins, Clarke Schmidt is 12th in the league with a 2.52 ERA, and Closer Clay Holmes is fourth in the league with 15 saves. The New York Yankees’ starting rotation is getting off to such a solid start this season without the services of reigning CY Young Award winner Gerrit Cole. He is hoping to return to the team sometime in the next month.
