New York Yankees: Panic Before All-Star Break

After losing another series to the Boston Red Sox, the New York Yankees losing 16 of 22 should have fans worried. One of the major reasons why the Yankees are losing these games is because of their starting pitching. The Yankees’ pitching has been a disaster in June and continues to haunt them now.

Another reason the Yankees are struggling is that the rest of the lineup is underachieving. Besides Aaron Judge and Juan Soto, the rest of the team is blundering at-bats. The Bronx is getting impatient and if the Yankees don’t fix these issues, they will collapse in September.

With the New York Yankees losing, they must fix these critical issues before the All-Star break and the second half of the season.

New York Yankees: Struggles Before The Break

During the first half of the season, the New York Yankees were one of the best teams with great pitching and hitting. Aaron Judge had an amazing May, along with Juan Soto getting hot for the team. Everything seemed to be working out until June when the struggles began.

In a divisional series against the Red Sox, the Yankees blew a game against them and the cracks were showing for this great team. After losing two of three to the Red Sox, the Yankees are going through a rough stretch of baseball losing 16 of their last 22 games.

New York Yankees: Pitching Woes

One of the major problems for the Yankees in this awful stretch is the starting pitching. While the Yankees had issues before the season, with Gerrit Cole being out, it has been a main issue for the team in this stretch. One of the pitchers is Gerrit Cole. In his first game back against the Mets, he gave up four home runs.

For the reigning C.Y. Young winner to get beaten like that is a sign of worse things for the Yankees. New York’s rotation with Marcus Stroman, Nestor Cortes, and Carlos Rodon all struggling shows the cracks of the Yankees rotation.

At the beginning of the season, Luis Gill has been lights out for the Yankees with a 9-2 record before losing four of his last six starts with an ERA of 5.73. Gill’s start against the Mets was a sign of things to come with giving up five earned runs, including a home run. Gill has been struggling since the “Subway Series: and needs to regroup soon.

Yankees Hitting Struggles

Another problem for the New York Yankees that cost them games is the lineup besides Judge and Soto. While Aaron Judge and Juan Soto have been doing well this season, the rest of the hitting has been hit-and-miss. Anthony Rizzo has been hurt for the Yankees, a key left-handed bat lost for the team. Another bat that is injured right now is Giancarlo Stanton. He has been on the IL since the middle of June.

The Bronx Bombers losing two crucial hitters, are making the Yankees depend on J.D Davis and a now struggling Anthony Volpe for key at-bats. While Volpe had a good start to the season, he has been a liability for the Yankees in this losing stretch. Along with Volpe’s struggles, the entire lineup for the Yankees has been putrid.

Final Thoughts

With the New York Yankees losing, they must fix these critical issues before the All-Star break and the second half of the season. The Yankees starting pitching has been falling apart and needs to be fixed now. Even with the great first couple of months, the pitching has been falling apart. Along with the pitching, the Yankees’ hitting has been a disaster and needs fixing now.

The issues that the New York Yankees have are fixable with trades before the deadline. While the Yankees have a solid roster, they have holes in their starting pitching and could buy a piece soon. New York could get a starter from the Tigers, or another seller during the deadline. If the Yankees don’t make it far this season, they could face long-term consequences.
