New York Mets Sign Former Gold Glove All-Star

New York Mets

During one of their more interesting seasons, for fans, the New York Mets signed former all-star outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. The Mets have been having outfield depth problems with Starling Marte out with injury for extended periods this season. Along with injuries and underperformances, the Mets outfield needs help and Bradly could do well.

Jackie Bradley Jr. besides being an all-star defender could do well in the Mets lineup as a lefty platoon hitter. Bradley Jr. could fit the Mets’ outfield defense by having good defensive numbers in right field. New York is hopeful that Bradley’s hitting with the Ducks could carry over to the majors.

The New York Mets have signed Jackie Bradley Jr. and could fix their outfield woes and hopefully get a new life for this former all-star. How will he fit in with the Mets?

In an entertaining and weird season for the New York Mets, one of their major issues is outfield depth. The Mets’ star outfielder Starling Marte has been injured during the second half and the team misses him dearly.

While the Mets starting outfield of Harrison Bader and Brandon Nimmo are holding up well, the rest of the outfielders have struggled on the plate. DJ Stewart has been underachieving at the plate. He is hitting an anemic .181 this year.

The Mets are hoping that new signing Jackie Bradley could help the team. While Bradley’s numbers at the plate last season were putrid, he has improved his numbers with the Long Island Ducks. The New York Mets signed Jackie Bradley to improve the outfield depth which could help them this season.

The New Mets All-Star Career Stats

Jackie Bradley Jr. was an all-star for the Boston Red Sox in 2016 and hopes to replicate that power with the Mets. Bradley, during his 11-year career in the majors, has accumulated a .225 batting average, 189 home runs, and 17.0 WAR. While the average numbers are not pretty, his home runs and WAR could add value to the lineup.

Jackie Bradley won the ALCS MVP and a World Series with the Red Sox in 2018. The playoff experience could help the Mets soon if they stay in the National League Wild Card race. Bradley’s veteran presence could do well for the younger Mets hitters soon. This playoff experience could help the Mets in their race for a playoff spot.

Final Thoughts

The New York Mets signed Jackie Bradley hoping to fix their outfield depth and hopefully give him new life in the team.  After seeing the struggles of the bench outfielders, the Mets are looking to see if Jackie Bradley still has something left in the tank. The experience of Bradley as an outfielder could help the Mets’ defensive woes in right field. New York also needed another lefty batter, due to the struggles of Stewart.

Jackie Bradley’s veteran experience could help the Mets in their current hot streak. While Bradley has struggled during the last few seasons, he has improved with the Long Island Ducks. Having an OPS of 1.204 doesn’t come easy, and shows he still has a lot to prove.

This season for the New York Mets is a strange one but also an exciting season, with an ending that could surprise fans. This signing could also become a disaster but could bring life to Bradley Jr’s career. Along with a comeback in his career, Bradley could bring life to the Mets outfield and become a new fan favorite to Queens.
