New York Mets Shortstop Francisco Lindor Makes History

New York Mets

New York Mets Shortstop Francisco Lindor is making history with his tremendous starts to games. As the leadoff hitter, he has a leadoff hit in 5 straight games. The only player in franchise history to have a longer streak is former batting champion Jose Reyes. He had a leadoff hit in 7 straight games in 2006 and 2011. Lindor hit his first home run of the year earlier today against the Miami Marlins to get the scoring started.

Lindor has found his footing following a slow start to the regular season. He has a hit in 7 straight games to begin April. New York had its best offensive performance of the season on Tuesday afternoon. They amassed 13 hits in a 10-5 victory. The whole lineup contributed to the win. First Baseman Pete Alonso added 4 RBI, Left Fielder Brandon Nimmo, and DH Starling Marte each added 2 RBI. Will Lindor be able to break Reyes’ streak later this week?

New York Mets Season Summary

New York has World Series aspirations in 2025. They cemented their intentions to win by signing Right Fielder Juan Soto the largest contract in league history this offseason. The Mets have gotten off to a sluggish start on offense this year. They are 21st in batting average, 19th in home runs, and 14th in runs scored. The New York Mets must get better production on offense to reach its full potential. New York is still 8-3 this season.

New York’s strength this season has been its pitching staff. They are leading the league in ERA, tied for third in strikeouts, and tied for fifth in opposing batting average. This has been a welcome surprise for the New York Mets with 2/5 of their starting rotation on the shelf. Sean Manaea(oblique) and Frankie Montas(lat) are sidelined with no timeline for a return. The Mets must continue treading water on the mound until they can get key players back.

Final Thoughts

Lindor will look for a leadoff hit in his sixth consecutive game tomorrow afternoon against the Miami Marlins as they go for the three-game sweep. Lindor is one of the best players in the league and will look to continue proving it this season.
