New York Mets Sean Manaea Great In Last 2 Starts

The New York Mets won their ninth straight game on Saturday.

New York Mets Starting Pitcher Sean Manaea has been spectacular over his last two starts. Manaea tossed seven scoreless innings while punching out 10 as the New York Mets dominated the St. Louis Cardinals 6-0 tonight. He entered tonight’s game coming off the best start of his season on July 30 against the Minnesota Twins where he also tossed seven scoreless innings. He struck out a season-high 11 against Minnesota.

Manaea has tossed 21 scoreless innings over his last two starts while punching out a whopping 21 batters. Manaea had a great night, and his offense was more than happy to pick up the slack. New York scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning to seal the game. Manaea has a record of 8-4 this season with a 3.30 ERA. Will he be able to continue pitching well as the New York Mets fight for a playoff spot in the National League?

They are 12th in batting average, fifth in home runs, and seventh in runs scored. Their offense is paced by First Baseman Pete Alonso and Left Fielder Brandon Nimmo. Alonso is 13th in the league in home runs while Nimmo leads the club in RBI.

New York’s pitching staff has also been strong this season. They are 19th in ERA, sixth in strikeouts, and fifth in opposing batting average. Manaea leads the team in wins, ERA, and strikeouts. All-star Closer Edwin Diaz has been much better as of late after getting off to a miserable start this season. He did not give up an earned run in June and had a 1.13 ERA in July.

When Will Manaea Take The Mound Next?

Manaea’s next scheduled start is on Saturday, August 10, on the road against the Seattle Mariners. He last faced Seattle on July 4, 2023, and surrendered one earned run over two innings of work. The New York Mets begin a three-game series with the Colorado Rockies tomorrow night.
