It was announced earlier tonight that New York Mets Shortstop Francisco Lindor won the 2024 Silver Slugger Award at shortstop. It is the fourth time Lindor has won this prestigious award. He previously was named a Silver Slugger in 2017, 2018, and 2023. Lindor bested Milwaukee Brewers Shortstop Willy Adames and Cincinnati Reds Shortstop Elly De La Cruz for the award. Lindor was the prohibitive favorite to win the award when the finalists were announced, and that came to fruition tonight.
Lindor played 152 games during the regular season and led all primary shortstops in home runs, runs scored, OBP, Slugging Percentage, OPS, and WAR(Wins Above Replacement). Lindor’s offensive contributions this season were paramount in the New York Mets advancing to the NLCS. They would eventually lose to the Los Angeles Dodgers in six games. Lindor played well during the 2024 MLB Postseason hitting .275 with 2 home runs and 8 RBI. Will Lindor be able to keep powering the New York Mets in 2025 and beyond?

Lindor was the driving force behind a New York Mets offense that was one of the best in both the regular season and the postseason. During the regular season, New York’s offense was 12th in batting average, sixth in home runs, and seventh in runs scored and Lindor was a huge part of that. During the playoffs, the New York Mets were second in batting average, third in home runs, and fourth in OPS.
Lindor said this on the MLB Network broadcast where the winners were announced. “I’m extremely blessed to be receiving of a Silver Slugger Award. I want to thank my wife, my family, and the good lord for blessing me with health, and all of the people at home that helped me throughout the year. My teammates, my coaches, they were fantastic throughout the year, challenging me and making me better day in and day out…”
Final Thoughts
The New York Mets will look to build upon a deep playoff run by helping bolster their roster for 2025. New York’s first order of business is to try and sign New York Yankees Right Fielder Juan Soto. Lindor is reportedly in Los Angeles where a meeting with New York Mets management and Soto will allegedly happen later this week. Lindor has reportedly been integral in New York’s recruitment of Soto. Lindor is the heartbeat of the New York Mets and Lindor’s fourth Silver Slugger Award is an addition to his ever-growing trophy case.
