The New York Knicks have been finding a way to continue improving their team as the offseason goes along as they have traded for Mikal Bridges and extended Jalen Brunson. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski has reported that coach Tom Thibodeau has agreed with the team on a three-year contract extension, taking him through the 2027-28 NBA season. The New York Knicks were one of four teams last season that ranked among the top 10 in both offensive and defensive efficiency. While we do not know the monetary figures, it appears that he will be paid well here.
The New York Knicks continue their strong offseason as they look towards being a legitimate threat in the Eastern Conference for the foreseeable future with their young Villanova Wildcats core. Let’s take a look at what we expect the team to be next season as their moves seemingly are finished right now.

The New York Knicks are ready to be a dominant force this upcoming season as they have added Mikal Bridges via a trade with the Brooklyn Nets and signed point guard Jalen Brunson to a massive extension to save some more money down the line. This team now has their top seven players l locked up into multiple-year contracts outside of power forward Julius Randle, who has a player option for $32.4 million in the 2025-26 season.
The Knicks team proved what they can be as they were 50-32 last season, which was good for second in the Eastern Conference and lost in the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the eventual NBA Champion Boston Celtics. Getting Tom Thibodeau locked up keeps this core happy as they seemingly want to play for. The conference got a bit stronger with the additions of Paul George to the Philadelphia 76ers and James Wiseman to the Indiana Pacers to name a few moves.
This Knicks team is going to be one of the top teams and should be able to be one of the top four seeds in the Eastern Conference by the end of the regular season. With the rest of the conference expected to struggle or at least take a step back and the way the Knicks attack every game, there is not a reason why they do not win 50+ games once again with better health throughout the roster. They have some questions in their backup center but if that is the worst question mark, that is something to be excited about.
