New York Knicks Vital Starter Leaves Game 6 Injured

New York Knicks Josh Hart

The New York Knicks have dealt with injury after injury this season. Their All-Star, Julius Randle, barely played any games this season. After him the dominoes continued to fall with Mitchell Robinson, Bojan Bogdanovic, and OG Anunoby. This team could not catch a break.

However, the Knicks managed to prevail and have found themselves in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals against the Indiana Pacers. It seemed like the trio of Jalen Brunson, Donte DiVincenzo, and Josh Hart would be pulling them into the Finals. Unfortunetly, another star has fallen.

As stated, Randle, Anunoby, Mitchell, and Bogdanovic have all been sidelined this season. Both Randle, Mitchell, and Bogdanovic ended up having season-ending surgery while Anunoby is expected to return if the Knicks pass the Pacers

There have been some people stating that head coach Tom Thibodeau is the cause of the injuries. Many believe that he pushes players too much and gives them too many minutes. It is consistently brought up that he could be the cause of the injury that led to the decline of Derrick Rose

However, Knicks starter Josh Hart has stated that this isn’t true. He doesn’t think it is right for the injuries to fall on the coach’s shoulders. Everyone is going to have their own opinion, but it’s good to see a player stand up for his coach.

Hart has been a key player for this team all season. He is a workhorse and willing to put his body on the line to give his team a chance to win. He is averaging 43.6 minutes per game this postseason and had 33.4 minutes per game in the regular season. It is rare to see a player put up these minutes without any injury problems.

However, in game six Hart was seen calling for a sub in the first quarter. He would make his return only to do the same thing in the third. Finally, in the fourth he sat for the game. As the camera panned over to the bench, viewers could see Hart with a towel over his face and clutching an ice pack on his stomach. Moments later it was announced that he would not make his return due to abdominal soreness.

Could Game 7 be Hartless?

Jalen Brunson is undoubtedly the best player on this New York Knicks team, but Josh Hart plays a very important role as well. Hart was clearly in a lot of pain, and he won’t have a lot of recovery time as game seven will be on Sunday. If Hart can’t play there will be a pretty big gap to fill.

This Indiana Pacers team could easily take game seven if Hart has to sit. Brunson has had a few shaky games with the Pacer’s defense staying on top of him 24/7. New York has shown resilience and strength all season and postseason. However, the possible loss of Josh Hart could end up being their downfall. We will just have to wait and see.
