The New York Knicks are testing new waters. But what was once old and forgotten becomes new again. In recent memory (2015) the NBA initiated the Last Two-Minute Report. The aim was to seek an explanation for controversial calls. Of course, many correctly grumble that doing so simply acknowledges a mistake. However, repercussions or corrections remain far from the public eye. Especially with the increased presence of gambling, late incorrect calls often demand justice!
So what occurred during a regular season game on a random Monday to stir up such controversy?
New York Knicks Seeking Correction
The team from the Big Apple is for real. Luckily for the league, this is the case once again. You hear it all the time on television, about how the NBA is better when the New York Knicks are good. However, they have a small injury bug. Regardless, looking to avoid a third straight loss, they kept it competitive against the Houston Rockets.
Returning Jalen Brunson to your lineup always helps. But unfortunately for this Knicks team, they fell short. New York lost 105-103 to the Texas team from the West. But the ending marred in huge disagreement!
The Knicks just lost on this call…
Was this a foul on Jalen Brunson? ? pic.twitter.com/OeoAMr249S

Brunson contested on a go-ahead jumper from beyond the arch. Aaron Holiday appeared to miss the shot on some good defense. But one of the men in stripes called a foul. Bewildered, Coach Tom Thibodeau appeared understandably upset. But it was all for nothing. Holiday made enough free throws and the game finished. They currently sit fourth in the East with a 33-21 record.
New York Knicks Possible Use of the Last Two-Minute Report
However, the event doesn’t end there. Instead, game crew chief Ed Malloy admitted that there wasn’t contact. He conceded that the game essentially ended on a missed call. Or in this case, specifically, a foul that shouldn’t have been called.
This returns us to the original issue. What good is the report if it’s just a ceremonious way to say you screwed up? However, the New York Knicks are taking matters into their own hands. It’s been reported from multiple sources that the organization has filed a protest. Not much is expected to come of this, but that’s just how blatant the mistake was.
New York Knicks Facing Uphill Battle
The burden of proof (like we’re in a law movie or something) rests on the rules being broken. In other words, a mistaken judgment call is not enough. Furthermore, there needs to be a “misapplication” of a rule that resulted in a bad call during the game.
This faces a struggle to overturn. For example, Shaquille O’Neal looked to have fouled out. However, the big man fouled an opposing player only for the fifth time. The wrong count or stats error resulted in an incorrect foul out from the game.
A BS call on Brunson to end the game but the play before that they let Sengun walk his way to the Knicks bench lol smh shit is wild man pic.twitter.com/dkwmQ0FDx0

Unfortunately for the New York Knicks, this is simply a missed call. A bad call, but a blown call. Although for O’Neal’s team playing it out was the result of an overturn. However, that appears to be unlikely. Even if the incorrect call is reversed.
