New York Knicks Guard Jalen Brunson Makes Franchise History

New York Knicks

New York Knicks All-Star Guard Jalen Brunson made franchise history in last night’s 143-120 home victory over the Sacramento Kings. In his 190th game with the New York Knicks, he scored 5,000 career points. That made him the fastest Knicks to hit that milestone besting both Carmelo Anthony and Bernard King by a game.

Brunson is putting together another great regular season which led to him being named an Eastern Conference starter in the All-Star Game earlier this week. He is ninth in the league in points per game and assists. Will Brunson keep up this level of play and lead the New York Knicks to their first title since 1973?

New York Knicks Season Summary

New York has once again been one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. With a 30-16 record, they are the third seed in the conference. Their offense has been one of the NBA’s best. They are fifth in points per game, third in field goal percentage, and fifth in three-point percentage. Knicks Center Karl-Anthony Towns is also having a great season. He is top 20 in the league in points per game, rebounds per game, and field goal percentage.

The team’s defense has not been as strong in years past though. They are eighth in points allowed, the worst rebounding team in the league, and 18th in opposing field goal percentage. New York’s defense must improve if they want to keep pace with the NBA’s best teams come playoff time.

Final Thoughts

Brunson and the New York Knicks continue a five-game homestand on Monday evening against the Memphis Grizzlies. The rest of the homestand will see the Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Lakers, and Houston Rockets come to town. Brunson will look to continue making history as he helps propel the New York Knicks toward playoff success.
