Russo is known for his hot takes, especially about the New York teams. For the past decade, there hasn’t been much good to talk about in terms of the NFL teams. Both the Giants and New York Jets have struggled to put a quality product on the field. The former host of WFAN New York’s Mike and the Mad Dog Show is confident that is about to change. He went on The Dan Patrick Show, and the host asked Russo what the biggest bet he had ever placed was.
The radio host responded that it was this year’s Jets win total, which is currently sitting at 9.5 wins. Maddog is taking the over and he revealed he is putting $10,000 on this bet. It isn’t the only team he is putting this massive sum of money on. He also likes the Falcons (9.5) and the Rams (8.5) and is placing similar bets. Russo joked that “I can’t take the money with me, for crying out loud,” as the reason for the bet.
Can The Jets Win 10 Games?
As with many teams, health is the key, but it is especially important for the New York Jets. Rodgers is coming off a major injury at 40 years old. While he looks okay in practice, a game is very different, especially on the MetLife turf. Their upgrades on the offensive line were necessary, but many of them are aging players with injury histories. Still, there is plenty to like about this team.
Garrett Wilson has been able to put up 1,000-yard seasons despite having Zach Wilson at quarterback. Breece Hall is fully healthy and projected to have a huge season. The defense has been a top-five unit for the past two seasons and is looking to continue their success. While the AFC is tough, the New York Jets certainly have a roster that is built to win.
