With the New York Giants week two match against the Commanders done, here is a recap of another embarrassing loss. During the loss, the only positive of the game is Malik Nabers having a decent game but a brutal drop. New York’s rookie, despite having a tweaked knee, did great but his dropped pass cost the Giants the game.
The rest of the game became a clown show for the Giants and Commanders, with both sides of the ball struggling. Washington’s defense was a mess with the penalties, poor play, and the Giants.
There is also the Giants, who had awful special team play despite missing Graham Gano with an injury. Gano’s injury caused Jamie Gillian to miss a field goal and the Giants to try multiple two-point conversions. This New York Giants week two loss against the Commanders signals a long and dire season for the team.
New York Giants Week Two Recap: Nabers Is Amazing

One of the positives in the New York Giants’ week two loss against the Commanders is the emergence of their first-round pick. Nabers played a solid game against the Commanders’ secondary. Even with a crucial drop pass, Nabers did a lot to keep the Giants in the game.
Daniel Jones also did a decent job throwing the ball for the Giants with a 16/28 with two touchdowns and no interceptions. While the performance wasn’t perfect, it was much better than last week.
New York Giants Week Two Recap: Giants Defense Is Bad
While the Giants’ offense did fine, the defense was nowhere to be found against the Commanders’ offense. The defense for the Giants let the Commanders run all over the field, allowing 215 rushing yards to seal the game. With the time of possession in favor of the Commanders this was brutal.
Another reason this New York Giants week two match was a brutal loss was the lack of a kicker for special teams. Gano was hurt during the game after being questionable before the game against the Commanders.
Before the game, Gano was listed as questionable, but the Giants made a poor mistake by believing he was healthy. They were proven wrong when the kicker got hurt, and along with a missed field goal, two missed two-point conversions.
Final Thoughts
This New York Giants week two recap shows the incompetence of the Giants two weeks into the season.
While Nabers dropped a crucial pass, he proved and could be a great receiver for the Giants with a real quarterback. There is also Jones doing well against the Commanders but he still has flaws as a quarterback.
The reason the New York Giants lost is due to the defense playing poorly against the Commanders’ run game. Washington’s run game with Daniels and Brian Robinson was perfect against the Giants’ defense.
There is also the Giants’ mismanagement of Gano and his health forcing the team to be undermanned with having Gillian kick for field goals, and failing in two-point conversions. This season could be a complete disaster for the Giants and could end with everyone fired before the season is over.
