New York Giants Analysis: What Went Wrong In D.C

New York Giants Analysis

With Week 2 of the NFL season almost over, here is the New York Giants’ analysis of their recent loss. During the Week 2 loss against the Commanders, everything on the offensive side of the ball was fine with few mistakes.

While the offense did fine with the ball, the defense was a horror show allowing over 200 rushing yards. Along with the defense not pressuring the Commanders offensive line, the special teams management was a disaster.

This New York Giants analysis for this loss against the Commanders could show what this season could be for the team beyond 2024.

New York Giants Analysis: Decent Offensive Showcase

One of the first things in this New York Giants analysis is praising the offense after their week one disaster. During Week 1, the Giants did not score a touchdown and had two turnovers. Everything was the opposite this week with the Giants 3 touchdowns and no turnovers yesterday afternoon

Even with Daniel Jones having a decent game, he made a bad throw to Nabers which was dropped in a crucial fourth down. After that play, the Giants’ defense gave up various amounts of yards that led to the game-winning field goal.

New York Giants Analysis: Poor Defensive Performance

Even with the offense doing well, the Giants’ defense was poor against the Commanders’ run game. During the loss, the Giants allowed a combined 215 rushing yards with Brian Robinson having 133 yards. Allowing that many yards killed the clock in the fourth quarter and should be unacceptable for fans.

Even with the mass amount of talent in the defense, the Giants run defense is still having the same issues. With a new coordinator, the Giants’ defense has been lacking in sacks and turnovers, and letting teams walk all over them.

If the defense still performs poorly, it could lead to change even with firing the last coordinators, and a new vision of the defense.

New York Giants Analysis: Awful Roster Management

Another factor for this loss by the New York Giants was the poor roster management by Brian Daboll with Graham Gano’s injury. Gano was on the injury list since Wednesday, and the lack of a backup kicker cost them gravely. The team had to depend on two missed two-point conversions and a missed field goal from Jamie Gillian

This roster mismanagement could cost Daboll his job if he keeps messing it up because it has cost them a game. Even with Daboll being a solid coach, these mistakes could cost him his job this season.

Final Thoughts

This New York Giants analysis of this crushing loss against the Commanders could lead to changes soon.

While the offense did fine, it still has many of the same flaws, including, their quarterback Daniel Jones being poor and lacking the run game. There is also the Giants’ defense falling apart against a strong Commanders run game.

Along with the defense falling apart, the Giants’ poor roster management, was also costly, with failed two-point conversions on Sunday. With two losses along with potentially more, the Giants could be making changes in the front office, and coaching shortly. Hopefully, the New York Giants analysis for Week 3 will show some improvements against the Cleveland Browns next Sunday.
