New York Giants Aftermath From Disastrous Week Two Loss

New York Giants aftermath

After a disastrous week two, the New York Giants aftermath of their loss, and how they could fix it. One of the crucial fixes for the Giants after week two is roster management for their injury situation. Having a backup kicker for special teams would have helped the Giants win that game against the Commanders in week two. There is hope that the Giants could sign a veteran, and have Jude McAtamney kick for the team.

Working on that roster management will help the team after mismanaging last week’s roster. There is also the work on the run defense, which gave up over 200 yards. New York’s run defense has been horrible but could be fixed. This New York Giants aftermath could help show what the team could do before preparing for their week three match against the Browns.

One of the major concerns and criticism for the Giants in week two was the lack of a field goal kicker. Losing Gano, during the game and not having a backup kicker was inexcusable on Sunday. Brain Daboll during a press conference yesterday talked about losing Gano for a couple of weeks, and the potential of McAtamney. Having a young kicker, along with signing a veteran kicker, could help the Giants in special teams.

Stop The Run

During the New York Giants aftermath of the game, Washington ran all over the Giants and needs addressing. With the offense being decent, the defense needs to work on these flaws. The disconnect is cornering with the players, with Bobby Okereke calling out their performance on Sunday.

Shane Bowen needs to work these flaws with the defensive front along with the linebackers in fixing these flaws. There is also regression with the edge rushing, especially with the lack of development with Kayvon Thibodeaux.  Thibodeaux has the potential to be a solid defender, but the lack of pressure wins is concerning.

Cleveland’s run game has been weak with Nick Chubb still on IR, and the Giants could take advantage in practice and with tape. With Quarterback Deshaun Watson having a weak season, the Giants’ defense could do well against the Browns’ offense with great practice and scheming.

Final Thoughts

This New York Giants aftermath from Sunday’s loss could have been fixed before week three but they need to address them before it’s too late. One mistake by the Giants’ coaching is believing that a kicker with injury concerns could be healthy. That mistake should not happen again with the Giants having a kicker on the practice squad. With that mistake taken care of, the Giants should have a kicker on stand-by in week three.

Another major concern in the New York Giants aftermath of the week two loss is the run defense, and how they need to address it. The linebackers of the team, are trying to figure out the new scheme, with a new coordinator, and must fix them now. Against a weak Browns team, the Giants coordinators could have to address it. While the season is still young, this New York Giants aftermath should have the team fix these simple issues before they worsen.
