New York Giants 2025 NFL Draft Preview

NFL Draft

The 2025 NFL Draft will be a turning point for New York Giants Head Coach Brian Daboll and General Manager Joe Schoen. New York finished last place in the NFC East last season with a record of 3-14. Quarterback Daniel Jones has finally moved on. Depth is needed across both their offensive and defensive lines.

New York’s defense as a whole is at best slightly below average. There are many different directions to go at No. 3 overall for a roster that is sorely lacking in elite NFL talent. Can New York draft well and end a decade-plus in the NFL wilderness? Here is our 2025 NFL Draft Preview for the New York Football Giants.

New York Giants 2025 NFL Draft Picks

The New York Giants own 8 draft picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.

  • Round 1 – No. 3
  • Round 2 – No. 34
  • Round 3 – No. 65
  • Round 3 – No. 99 (compensatory selection)
  • Round 4 – No. 105
  • Round 5 – No. 154 (from Seattle)
  • Round 7 – No. 219
  • Round 7 – No. 246 (from Buffalo)

The New York Giants drafted Wide Receiver Malik Nabers last year in the first round of the NFL Draft. The former LSU Tiger flashed some serious talent during the 2024 NFL season. There should be a generational talent available at third overall in this year’s NFL Draft. Two-way phenom Travis Hunter or game-wrecker Abdul Carter will be on the board, but will the Giants reach for a quarterback?

Team Needs

The New York Giants have obvious offensive needs heading into the 2025 NFL Draft. Quarterback is one area, with only Russell Wilson and journeyman Jameis Winston on the roster. Outside of Nabers, New York lacks talent at receiver, running back and tight end. Offensive line injuries were a huge issue for the team last season. Depth at that position must be addressed. Given all their offensive needs, should the Giants punt on the quarterback position this season and invest more resources in the rest of the roster?

On defense, the Giants are in better shape. Last season’s signing of Edge Rusher Brian Burns was a success and he and Dexter Lawrence should be defensive cornerstones for years to come. One or two more talented players and New York could suddenly have a formidable front 7. New York also added Paulson Adebo in free agency. However, the former Saints corner is coming off injury. Depth in the secondary should be addressed as well.

  • Round 3 – No. 65: CJ West DT Indiana
  • Round 3 – No. 99 (compensatory selection): Hollin Pierce OT Rutgers
  • Round 4 – No. 105: Jaydon Blue HB Texas
  • Round 5 – No. 154 (from Seattle): Quincy Riley CB Louisville
  • Round 7 – No. 219: Craig Woodson S California
  • Round 7 – No. 246 (from Buffalo): Jaylin Lane WR Virginia Tech

Mock Draft Analysis

The New York Giants go best player available in the first round and draft a generational talent at edge rusher. This selection could instantly transform the defense. This draft would have division rivals and current Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles sue for copyright infringement. Schoen continues to shore up the defensive side of the ball in later rounds, getting depth along the interior of the defensive line and in the secondary. West is an impressive compliment to Lawrence on the interior.

On offense, Booker is a well-regarded prospect that could start immediately. The Giants have already invested in two free agents at quarterback. If Shoen can wait a season, the offensive line will improve the prospects of a rookie quarterback. Blue is the game-changing home run hitter the Giants running back room lacked last season. Reports are that Lane impressed Schoen at the NFL Combine.

Final Thoughts

This is a pivotal draft in Daboll and Schoen’s tenure. The roster must show clear signs of improvement in 2025 if they want to keep their jobs. The rest of the NFC East is loaded at quarterback, and the Giants must find a way to respond. The temptation to take QB Shadeur Sanders at 3rd overall is very high. If the Giants can resist that temptation, or at least trade back when they do so, they could have a memorable 2025 NFL Draft.
