In the offseason, he was looking for a new contract, but the Saints wanted him to prove his worth. He is doing that and more. A recent report indicates he is in line for a huge payday thanks to his play.
New Orleans Saints Alvin Kamara Contract
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said this morning that Alvin Kamara is playing himself into a huge contract, whether from the New Orleans Saints or another team. He is technically under contract for the 2025 season with a base salary of $22.4 million. However, the prevailing theory is that this year will be the final year of his deal. NFL insider Mike Florio points out that the contract number makes it unrealistic for him to play on that deal.
“The problem comes from the $25 million compensation package he’s due to earn next year. That was never a real number; the goal was to pump his new-money APY to $15 million. And it worked, the same as the fake final year in Tyreek Hill’s original Dolphins deal, which pushed the APY to $30 million.”
At the beginning of the season, many thought he would be released. However, if he keeps up this pace, he could see a record-setting contract.
“My understanding is if he keeps playing like this, that contract is going to take care of itself. He is putting himself in line for a huge payday in 2025.”

This season, Alvin Kamara has rushed for 198 yards and a whopping four touchdowns. He has added seven receptions for 92 yards and another score. This has been par for the course throughout his career. In his eight-year career, he has amassed over 6,000 rushing yards and 58 touchdowns while adding over 4,000 receiving yards. The five-time Pro Bowler has been one of the best dual-threat running backs over the past decade. If he leads the New Orleans Saints to a successful 2024 season, the Saints may have no choice but to play him.
Alvin Kamara is one of the most fun players to watch in the NFL. If he can keep up this blistering pace, he could be on the shortlist for some major awards, along with a huge payday. The New Orleans Saints are out to prove the first two weeks aren’t an accident. If they are able to win the NFC South, it would be one of the biggest surprises of the 2024 NFL season.
