New England Patriots Sign Star Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs To 3-Year Deal

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots signed Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs to a three-year $69 million contract Tuesday night. Diggs had 47 receptions, 496 receiving yards, and 3 receiving touchdowns in 2024 with the Houston Texans. His season was limited to 8 games as Diggs suffered a Torn ACL midway through the year. He will look to remain healthy and revitalize his career with the New England Patriots over the next three seasons. How will this deal work out for both sides?

New England Patriots Offseason Outlook

New England has reportedly been looking for a veteran wide receiver this offseason. Wide Receiver Chris Godwin reportedly left millions on the table by re-signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Patriots were also heavily interested in signing Wide Receiver Cooper Kupp. He ended up signing with the Seattle Seahawks

The Patriots needed to give Quarterback Drake Maye a veteran weapon heading into his second season as the team is lacking in that department. They signed Diggs to a massive contract to give Maye the weapon the team had been so desperately seeking.

Final Thoughts

Diggs will look to have a healthy 2025 with the New England Patriots and Maye. Even before Diggs went down with a season-ending injury, he was not having a good year. It was his second-lowest yards per reception of his career and he was on pace for under 1,000 receiving yards for the first time since 2017. New England hopes that was a blip instead of a sign of things to come. The wide receiver will be 32 years old next season. He will need to turn back the hands of time, coming off a brutal injury, to make this contract worthwhile.
