New England Patriots Sign Former Jets OT To 3-Year Deal

New England Patriots Morgan Moses

The New England Patriots have been busy on the first day of free agency. They have already signed a couple of players on the defensive side of the ball, but the offense also has needs. The offensive line, especially, was terrible, leading to rookie quarterback Drake Maye running for his life throughout the year. It was a huge need, and the team made a big splash, signing former New York Jets offensive tackle Morgan Moses to a three-year deal.

New England Patriots Sign Morgan Moses

Reports indicate the New England Patriots are signing Morgan Moses to a three-year, $24 million deal with incentives up to $28.5 million. Moses is a savvy veteran and has been one of the best offensive tackles for well over a decade. He started 14 games for the Jets last season and has been with the Ravens and Commanders as well throughout his career. This is a huge upgrade for the Patriots as their tackles were abysmal last year.

While the New England Patriots needed upgrades in many places on the roster, the offensive line was the biggest need. It doesn’t matter how good the rest of your offense is if your offensive line is a mess. For the team to have any success in 2025, the offensive line was a priority. Not only did they get a quality veteran, but they also hurt a division rival.

A Poke At The Jets

The New England Patriots have no love for the Jets. Signing Moses away from them leaves their division rival with a massive hole on the right side of the line. The Jets already have questions at the quarterback position, but now they have to figure out who will protect whoever they get to be under center. They do have the seventh overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, and they could look for an upgrade there. However, losing this veteran, especially to the Patriots, is a tough blow.

Final Thoughts

It isn’t a surprise to see the New England Patriots active on the first day of free agency. They had plenty of money to spend and can likely beat any deal on the players they actually want. Can Mike Vrabel turn this team around in year one?
