NBA Releases East and West All-Star Game Rosters

NBA

The NBA recently released the East and West All-Star Game rosters to the general public. The All-Star Game has made headlines in recent months, mostly due to the NBA’s new four-team, tournament-style format with two semifinal games played up to 40 points. It concludes the final match played up to 25 points.

The NBA’s upcoming All-Star Game has garnered mixed reviews from players and fans alike, but we’ll see how the league’s pickup-style tournament game pans out. At least the East and West rosters remain the same, with five starters selected to represent the Eastern and Western conferences in the Bay Area. Read on for further details regarding both rosters.

Eastern Conference All-Star Game Roster

The NBA’s East All-Star Game roster starters are the New York Knicks’ Jalen Brunson, the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Donovan Mitchell, the New York Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns, the Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum, and the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Knicks’ duo of Brunson and Towns will join Antetokounmpo, a nine-time NBA All-Star.

ESPN’s Jamal Collier recently shared his opinion on the NBA’s East All-Star Game roster. Collier told ESPN, “Neither Brunson nor Towns were necessarily undeserving, but it still is surprising to see New York with multiple All-Stars for the second consecutive season — and the only team with two starters this year (Towns replacing Julius Randle this time) — especially over other teams that have been more dominant this season.”

NBA West All-Star Game Roster

The NBA’s West All-Star Game roster starters are the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry, the Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic, the Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant, and the Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James. This might be the last time we’ll see three veteran starters over 35 years old in one conference, which can be a testament to Curry, Durant, and James, who redefine what’s possible.

ESPN’s Kevin Pelton recently shared his shock at Durant making the West All-Star game roster. Pelton told ESPN, “I’m surprised Durant made it despite slipping to third in fan voting. I expected the media and player vote to favor Wembanyama and allow him to claim the third starting spot in the West. Durant has certainly played at an All-Star level this season, but the passing of the torch in the West frontcourt will apparently take another year.”
