2024 NBA Finals: What to Expect From Dallas Mavericks vs. Boston Celtics Exciting Clash

NBA Finals Boston Celtics Dallas Mavericks

It’s official: the Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics will be facing off in the 2024 NBA Finals. These two teams fought hard to be where they are right now. Both got the job done relatively quickly and now have time to prepare for the last battle. However, only one team can come out on top. Will the dynamic duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving win a chip? Or will it be Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and their super starting five taking home the gold?

Dallas Mavericks Game Plan for NBA Finals Win

It’s time for Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving to try their luck at winning big. The question is, what do they need to do to get there? Firstly, Doncic and Irving will probably both need to have 25+ point nights. Also, P.J. Washington must perform to the best of his abilities. This is a Boston Celtics team that can outscore opponents very quickly. Lastly, a good showing from Dereck Lively II off the bench could be key, as his explosive dunks frequently spur on the Maverick’s offense.

Next, it will be a matter of defense. Doncic has upped his defensive game this playoffs. He’s helping his teammates when the key is vulnerable and not sagging back when defending the perimeter shots. However, the key piece here will be Daniel Gafford’s rim protection. If we see the return of Porzingis, Gafford will need to be on his A-game when it comes to rebounding. He can’t let the 7-footer get the upper hand down low.

What the Boston Celtics Need for Banner 18

Like Dallas, the Boston Celtics will be relying heavily on their duo of Brown and Tatum. These two players will have to both contribute a good amount in the scoring column. Also, if Jrue Holiday could turn up his offense again, that would give Boston some leverage. Lastly, a classic Derrick White game could be what puts the Cs on top.

The return of Porzingis will be interesting. Al Horford has been the protector of the paint for almost all of the playoffs, and he should be given a lot of credit. However, it’s time for Horford to sit back and rest a little while the Unicorn gets back to blocking shots. The main defensive priority should be for Jrue Holiday and Derrick White to lock down the Dallas duo.

A Battle of the Ages

This battle will begin at home for the Boston Celtics. They’ve defended TD Garden well this season and will look to do so again on Thursday, June 6th. Here, fans will see Kristaps Porzingis and Kyrie Irving clash against their old teams. They both hold similar stories with their past teams, as neither felt like they fit in with the stars that were already on the roster.

Could we see Kristaps Porzingis take a ring from former teammate Luka Doncic? Or will Kyrie Irving finally overcome the hate that the Boston Celtics fans have towards him and win at TD Garden?
