However, one of these top three summer league players deserved this feat more, after factoring their overall performance. Also, though these three players are the favorites to win this Summer League MVP title, they have weaknesses and strengths that make their game stand out. Thus, this article will touch on these aspects. Now, who deserves the NBA 2K25 Summer League MVP?

Jalen Wilson had a good performance during the Las Vegas Summer League. However, he didn’t display a holistic performance. Thus, the Brooklyn Nets forward played a one-sided game throughout this Summer League exhibit. After the 23-year-old’s final game against the Orlando Magic, his total average was 21.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, and an assist in five games. Also, Wilson made 47.3% in field goals and 55% in three-pointers. His offensive performance was stellar, especially the three points made per game. However, how about his defense?

This was one of the weaknesses of Jalen Wilson’s performance. The 6’6 forward wasn’t active defensively as his performance in either steals or blocks was below average. Another setback in his performance was his playmaking skills. Wilson’s playmaking skill was below average, also, if these aspects improved, his team would have had a better chance of winning against the Los Angeles Clippers and Charlotte Hornets. Thus, who are the top three choices for the Summer League MVP title?

Scotty Pippen Jr., Memphis Grizzlies

The Summer League MVP debate won’t be complete without Pippen Jr. because his overall performance checks the criteria on the kind of players that the NBA League needs. Also, The Grizzlies guard’s consistent skills helped his teams advance to the finals. After the Summer League finals, Scotty averaged 21.5 points, five rebounds, 8.7 assists, and 3.3 steals in six games. In the field, the guard averaged 46.1%, and beyond the arc 32%. Thus, it’s pretty obvious where Scotty’s weakness lies.

Throughout the Salt Lake City and Las Vegas Summer League exhibition, the 23-year-old guard struggled with making three-point shots. However, instead of dwelling on this setback, Scotty plays aggressive offense by drawing fouls and converting them into points. Also, this isn’t his only strength on the court.

The 23-year-old guard plays good defensively on the court by making tough steals with decent rim protection. Therefore, Scotty is a qualified two-way player as he contributes on both sides of the court. Further, his playmaking skills are stellar as the Grizzlies guard dished 11 assists against the Orleans Pelicans which is his highest in this Summer League. Finally, he bagged his sixth triple-double against the LA Clippers to advance to the finals.

Jordan Miller, Los Angeles Clippers

Jordan Miller played forward for the Clippers and also he’s the strongest candidate to achieve this feat. The 24-year-old started this 2K24 Las Vegas Summer League with an explosive performance of 30+ points and a good shooting percentage in field goals and three-pointers. Also, he always led his teams as the best performer while they went 5-for-1 in 6 games.

After losing in the semi-finals against the Memphis Grizzlies, the 24-year-old guard averaged 25.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.4 steals in five games. Also, Miller got 54.9% in field goals and 60% in three-pointers. This performance depicts Jordan Miller as a potential 3-and-D player. Thus, his strength lies in his aggressive offense and decent defense. However, the 24-year-old displayed an average playmaking skill with 2.6 assists per game.

Kel’el Ware, Miami Heat

Kel’el Ware’s contribution to the Heat’s performance through this Summer League exhibit should make him a stronger candidate for this MVP title. Also, the Heat went 6-for-0 in six games to win the Las Vegas Summer League finals. The final game against the Grizzlies was competitive but Ware’s consistent performance helped the Heat team maintain the back-and-forth competition.

The 20-year-old center averaged 18 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and one steal per game. Also in the field goals, he made 61.8% of his baskets and 30% in three-points. Ware’s obvious setback is three-pointers, however, the Heat center thrived to improve this aspect during this summer league exhibit as he averaged few attempts on three points. Regardless, Ware is a two-way player who contributes well offensively and shines defensively. Therefore the 20-year-old strives for outstanding rim protection and grabbing crucial rebounds for the team.

Final thoughts: Who Should Win The Title?

This tough decision comes with a dilemma, however, one has to factor in some criteria. These top three players made the first All-Summer League team. Also, they complement each other in strengths and weaknesses. Pippen Jr. and Kel’el Ware played more Summer League games than Miller. Therefore, Jordan Miller is out as his team didn’t make it to the finals.

Scotty Pippen plays good and aggressive offensive and defensive which brings athleticism to his performance. However, Kel’el plays better defense and decent offense. Therefore, Scotty Pippen Jr. is the best to hold this Summer League MVP title. Also, Scotty is an excellent playmaker who leads and sets up his teammates for success.
