Mudryk’s New Post Justifying His Big ‘Price Tag’ for 2024-2025 PL Season

One of the biggest questions that Premier League pundits, fans, and coaches consistently ask is – was Mudryk worth it? The Ukrainian was a surprise signing for Chelsea last season, as he seemed to be more of a viral online sensation than a player with the credentials to back up the hefty price tag.

People expressed doubt in the player before he had even arrived, claiming the signing was more of a financial move and publicity stunt than actually bolstering their ranks and increasing the depth of the attacking front line.

But, Mudryk thinks differently. Of course, it could be ego talking, but he does think that himself, his skills, and his performances are worth the huge price tag that had everyone in the footballing world scratching their heads.

Mudryk Price Tag – Is He Worth it?

Mudryk might think that he is worth the millions and millions of dollars that Chelsea paid, but others don’t believe so. He has been at the Blues for over 18 months now and has made very little impact, often squandering chances, passing the ball astray, and leaving little to be desired on the field in terms of performance or lasting impact.

He has had a difficult start to his time at Chelsea, and the slump has only continued into a perpetual run of form. The club paid nearly $92 million for Mudryk in the previous transfer window, which seemed way too much for a player of his caliber.

Since he joined the club, he has scored only seven times for the London side – there is no way that spending more than $10 million per goal is worth the new player. People had high hopes for the Ukrainian-born footballer after his promising debut against Liverpool more than 1.5 years ago, but since then, the hopes of the fans have fallen.

But, that doesn’t mean he is down and out.

Clichy, the assistant manager of Servette in France and the U21 team believes that Mudryk could find his form again before the 2024-2025 Premier League season.

‘Mykhaylo Mudryk was about to sign forArsenal for big money last year, and everyone was thinking he was going to come in and change the team completely, with his pace, and how good he looked with the ball at his feet, and everything like that. Then ,you look at the year or so he’s had with Chelsea and some people might think “thank God we didn’t buy him.”

That isn’t very encouraging for any player to hear. But, Clichy sees both sides of the argument.

‘Does it mean the player is not performing?….We have to think about other things off the pitch, such as what’s happening with him at home….sometimes we forget about this kind of thing and just focus on what the guy is doing on the pitch. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mudryk comes out next season and becomes the best winger in the Premier League, because he’s absolutely got all of the attributes which you want in a winger.’

The praise and backing from such an esteemed player and manager could be exactly the type of confidence boost that Mudryk needs right now.

Chelsea will look to capitalize off their players’ strengths next year, as this season they fell flat in terms of player confidence, consistency, tactics, and goal-scoring. Mudryk will have to be in top form if Chelsea hopes to beat their sixth-place finish this year and break into the top five of the Premier League
