Monday Night Raw Preview: WWE Intercontinental Style | 09/02/2024

Monday Night Raw Preview WWE

Traveling home from a very successful venture in Germany, WWE has proven they’re truly an intercontinental company and has expanded its global reach. The first post-Bash in Berlin Monday Night Raw continues with another great event planned for tonight from the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado. Celebrating the spirit of international festivities, Raw will host two more matches in the tournament for the number one contender for the Intercontinental Championship.
Monday Night Raw airs on the USA Network at 8 PM ET

Intercontinental Style on Monday Night Raw

Dominik Mysterio vs. Dragon Lee vs. Ilja Dragunov: Coming home from a great event in Berlin, Monday Night Raw will again remain focused on the number one contender tournament for the Intercontinental Championship, eventually seeing the winner face Bron Breakker. Our first triple threat match pits Mysterio and Lee against each other, two luchadors with great movesets, but adds the explosive chaos that Dragunov brings to his matches. WWE will give us some high-flying action in this triple threat.

Seamus vs. “Big” Bronson Reed vs. Ludwig Kaiser: Kaiser is getting his second opportunity for a mid-card level belt by being in this tournament after his inability to defeat LA Knight at this past SmackDown for the United States Championship. In their search for the Intercontinental Championship, it would be the first for all three men. Reed has been on a path of pure destruction, Seamus is questing to win the only title that has eluded him, and Kaiser is on an upward path. Difficult to predict.

Not the Only Number One Contenders

With another division’s number-one contender status on the line tonight, we have The Unholy Union vs. Damage CTRL, both seeking to regain the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles. Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn lost the titles at Bash in Berlin to Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair. They will be looking to step right back into title contention, but beating a more focused Damage CTRL, as of late, will not be an easy task.

Championship Celebration

What will be in store for Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair’s WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship victory celebration tonight? Will the match of the number one contenders somehow affect the celebration? Will yet another team emerge to challenge Cargill and Belair? Will they ever actually name their tag team? Tune in tonight to perhaps find out.

Predictions

Shayna Baszler vs Zelina Vega:
Vega’s issues with The Pure Fusion Collective will continue tonight, but Baszler should win.

American Made vs Alpha Academy:
The Creed Brothers with Ivy Nile should defeat Akira Tozawa and Otis with Maxxine Dupri, but this could be a match with an unclear finish and perhaps also a Wyatt Sicks appearance. I am sure Chad Gable will factor in, as well. If there is one, the winner will be the Creeds.

The Unholy Union vs  Damage CTRL:
Damage CTRL will win tonight’s number-one contender’s match for the Women’s Tag Team titles. We cannot discount, however, how much Fyre and Dawn have stepped up on all three shows (Raw, SmackDown, NXT) and are among the hardest working in the division. Still, it is Kairi Sane and Iyo Sky’s time. Damage CTRL got next.

Ijla Dragunov vs Dom Mysterio vs Dragon Lee:
The two Intercontinental contender triple threat matches are difficult to predict. I have nothing against Dragon Lee, but Mysterio has been hinted at advancing in this tourney, and Dragunov has the motivation to return to and destroy Bron Breakker. Ilja should advance unless Judgement Day intercedes.

Seamus vs “Big” Bronson Reed vs Ludwig Kaiser:
I hope the ring crew for Monday Night Raw reinforces the ring for this potential slobber knocker. Reed has been destroying not only wrestlers but tables at ringside and cars in the back of the arenas in his current rampage run. It is difficult to see Kaiser or Seamus beating Reed. We will, however, see destruction. Should be hard-hitting.
