Molineux Sidelines for 2 Months with Huge Fractured Rib

Molineux

Molineux is an Aussies All-rounder, who has performed exceptionally great in the previous matches. She might be racing against time to get fit for the New Zealand series before the T20 World Cup. The reason for this is that she fractured a rib while she was training for the upcoming matches. This is a serious injury so making her participate in the match will be a foolish step to take and obviously, the coaches have made her stay and rest for about eight weeks for her recovery.

Sophie Molineux Not Participating in the Hundreds

Because of this, Molineux won’t be able to participate in the Hundred. She worked hard and trained hard to play in the Hundreds and she was supposed to play for Manchester Originals but no one knows about the future. Additionally, Grace Harris is also a strong candidate for the World Cup squad.

The reason for her is not being hit hard by the ball or fracturing her ribs but she will miss the tournament because she has a calf strain, which is the tearing of Calf muscles, which can be either of the calves preventing her from playing for London Spirit. Australia has three T20Is against New Zealand from September 19 to 24, before heading to Bangladesh for the T20 World Cup, which begins on October 3.

Sophie’s Great Performance in the Matches

Sophie's Great Performance

Sophie Molineux is a left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder. She is now again in the Australian team She joined in February after being sidelined since 2021 due to injuries. She made her comeback in a one-off Test against South Africa in Perth and was named Player of the Series in the T20Is against Bangladesh, taking six wickets at an average of 8.33. Earlier on the tour, she impressed by taking three for 10 in her return to the ODI team. Kim Garth will step in for Sophie Molineux at Manchester Originals, and Megan Schutt has been added to the London Spirit squad as a replacement player.

These changes have led to some adjustments in the Australia A squads set to play India A in Queensland next month. Maitlan Brown and Kate Peterson have been called up. Maitlan Brown was already selected to play in the one-day matches. She is now also going to perform in the T20 Series as a replacement. While on the other hand Peterson, who was initially selected only for the four-day games, will now have an expanded role.

Players Not Performing in Coming Matches

Not only Molineux and Harris won’t be participating in the Hundreds or the Series but some important players won’t be playing in these matches. Other than Harris and Molineux, the only Australian players with contracts who won’t be participating in the Hundred or the Australia A series are captain Alyssa Healy and fast bowler Darcie Brown, who is still recovering from a stress fracture in her foot.

There are a lot of matches coming up for the Aussies team to handle, and such type of matches makes the Aussies such an indestructible team, who has won a lot of matches. Australia has a packed international schedule coming up. They will host India in early December, followed by three ODIs in New Zealand.

In January, they’ll compete in the multi-format Ashes, including a day-night Test at the MCG, and then return to New Zealand in late March. Additionally, the WBBL starts a week after the T20 World Cup, and the WPL is likely to happen in early March.
