Mohammad Rizwan Surpasses Rohit Sharma’s Astonishing Record for Most 50+ Scores as an Opener in T20Is

Mohammad Rizwan

It has taken extra special effort, but Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan beat India captain Rohit Sharma by making the most fifty-plus scores as an opener in T20 international cricket. This record was made during the T20 World Cup Group B match against Canada at the Nassau County International Stadium on the 11th of June.

Mohammad Rizwan comes up with a fifty in the game; all in all, the batsman now takes his tally of fifty-plus scores to 30 in only 71 innings. This impressive performance breaks a record that even Rohit Sharma, a player who ranked equally in terms of fifty-plus scores, never achieved in 118 innings. The man who has been providing consistent and excellent performance is Mohammad Rizwan from this feat in T20 cricket.

It was Pakistan who hit back with vengeance by clinching a significant victory over Canada. Pakistan won with a comprehensive seven-wicket win at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York, in the T20 World Cup 2024 after having borne the brunt of back-to-back defeats.

The hosts decided to bat first after they had won the toss, and although they were a little fortunate to pick up seven wickets. Pakistan must have been pleased with their bowling display as they kept Canada to a total of 106.

Dashing Toward the Target With Flexibility

Pakistan, however, clinched the target in a fairly easy manner as they lost three wickets. The main event that I think contributed much to the winning side was Mohammad Rizwan, who made 53 runs off 53 balls with two fours and a six. On reaching the terminal summary, it was accomplished within the 18th over to provide Pakistan with a much-needed victory.

But this triumph has helped Pakistan come back on the right track, and they will surely take these positive sentiments with them in their last group game match against Ireland on June 16 at Lauderhill. This match will be very important for the teams because a win will give them a better chance of proceeding to the next stage.
