MLB Home Run Derby 2024 Winner Destroys It Tonight

The Los Angeles Dodgers Teoscar Hernandez wants to remain a Dodger past this season.

With the All-Star week underway, the MLB home run derby had a lot of spectacular home runs by the contenders. This year’s first round is done by lineups instead of brackets, with the top four advancing to the second round. During this year’s home run derby, a lot of power was shown unexpectedly by Alec Bohm in the first round. Another contender during the first round was Bobby Witt, with 20 home runs in the first round.

The second round was also interesting, with the top four being Alec Bohm, Teoscar Hernández, Bobby Witt Jr, and José Ramírez. The second round was a face-off with the National League batters and American League hitters facing each other. The finals of this year’s derby had the young Bobby Witt Jr facing the Dodgers’ Teoscar Hernandez.

This home run derby, while the format has flaws, was a fun one to see for fans of the game.

For the first round of the MLB home run derby, the batters were hitting the ball with stride with some disappointments and surprises. The first participant to surprise fans was Alec Bohm with his 21 home runs to start the derby. Along with Alec Bohm is Bobby Witt Jr, and his amazing power.

The other strong performer in this year’s derby is Jose Ramírez with 21 home runs.  Along with Ramirez is Adolis Garcia but couldn’t move on with weak final hits. Along with Garcia is Marcell Ozuna with a weak performance despite the 18 home runs tonight.

While there was power in the bats, the derby also had some disappointments. One of those disappointments was Pete Alonso, with a weak performance compared to his winning derby years. Alonso had a weak performance but was better than Gunnar Henderson, who wasn’t ready for the pitches. Both sluggers were disappointing in this hot MLB home run derby.

MLB Home Run Derby Second Round

For the second round, the bracket format was used for the top four contenders facing each other off. In the first face-off, it was José Ramírez vs Bobby Witt Jr. Witt with his power got through the second round with ease against his division rival, José Ramírez

During the National League side of the bracket, Alec Bohm had a strong performance along with Teoscar Hernandez with 14 home runs a piece. The duel went to a swing off with Teoscar Hernandez barely winning it out. It was an exhausting but fun duel between these two players in playoff-contending teams.

Even with the weak second-round performance, Alec Bohm had proven the doubters, including writers, that he has the power. Another great performer in the second round despite losing was Jose Ramirez who was close to tying it but failed.

The MLB Home Run Derby Finals

For the final duel, it was Teoscar Hernandez vs Bobby Witt Jr, with the younger star facing against the veteran slugger. The duel was an epic one with Witt barely missing the tying home run. This final match-up was impressive with the last out being inches away from tying the derby up.

With this win, Hernandez was able to win it and become the first Los Angeles Dodger to win the home run derby. Overall, this year’s MLB home run derby was an interesting and fun one for fans of the game. Moreover, it will keep everyone in high spirits for the rest of the season.
