The Australian all-rounder is feeling confident after bouncing back from a hamstring setback. Mitch Marsh, Australia’s skipper, is pumped up and raring to kick off their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup journey.
Mitch Marsh’s Injury Update Before T20 World Cup
He picked up that hamstring injury early on in the Indian Premier League and hasn’t hit the field since that quiet start in April with the Delhi Capitals against the eventual champs, Kolkata Knight Riders.
But with the T20 World Cup knocking on the door, Marsh seems to be hitting his stride. He looked sharp after joining the lads at training in Trinidad on Sunday and is all set to lead against Oman in their tournament opener in Barbados on June 5.

“It’s been a bit of a slow grind, but I’m finally back in the zone and itching to get into the action,” Marsh told Cricket Australia.
We initially thought it’d be a quick fix, but with these tendon issues, you’ve got to play it by ear, he added, reflecting on the recovery journey.
“Once the IPL was off the cards, we’ve taken our time to get it right. I’ve been lucky to grab that extra bit of time, chill at home, and recharge.”
While Mitch Marsh is likely to swing the bat in Australia’s warm-up against Namibia on Tuesday, he’s holding off on bowling for a bit longer.

“It’ll still be some time before I’m back to bowling. We’ll start that ball rolling soon. For now, it’s about getting through these warm-ups as a batter,” Marsh shared.

And with the captaincy on his shoulders, he’s happy to let the other boys take the lead in the bowling department. We’ve got a stacked lineup and loads of talent. Stoin (Marcus Stoinis) and Greenie (Cameron Green) are ready to go. So, I’m clear on my role. If I need to bowl, I will, but it’s always about what’s best for the team, he emphasized.

As for who’ll team up with Mitch Marsh in Australia’s XI for the warm-up against Namibia in Trinidad, that’s still up in the air. Quite a few stars, including Travis Head, Pat Cummins, and Mitch Starc, are yet to touch down in the West Indies after their IPL showdown.
Mitch Marsh understands the grind they’ve been through and prioritizes their downtime before the big dance.
“We might be a bit short-staffed for the warm-up, but hey, it’s just practice. The ones who need to step up will get their shot, and we’ll figure it out from there,” Mitch Marsh concluded.
